Cat eating so fast he throws up?

I'm having such issues with my cats! So our female cat has urinary issues. We used to feed them just dry and leave it in the bowl all day long to snack. Then the vet said to introduce wet, so we gave a can in the morning for them to share. Then the vet said to go to all wet so we did a can in the morning and a can at night for them to share, no dry. They acted like they were starving, always at our feet, being bad by climbing on the counters, etc. Now, the female is on special food and it's expensive so we don't want them to share so I put her in the laundry room and shut the door and him in the kitchen. He ate it so fast, I guess he figured that she was going to share so he wanted to eat it all up first that he ended up puking and she got so angry that she was locked up that she peed on the floor on the rug in front of the back door and on the cat bed (both right in front of the cat box

DH has had enough. Oh, and he doesn't puke on the hardwood that's all over our house, nope. He picks the dining room rug that is chanille braided so the puke gets stuck in the braids and even with the carpet cleaning vacuum, you can't get it out.

This is so frustrating. Does anyone have any advice?

Have you had the thyroid checked out?

Eating really fast is a sign of hyperthyroidism in cats (older ones in particular.

Like you said, he may be eating so fast so he doesn't have to share it.
Try feeding him smaller amounts of wet more frequently, maybe 4 times a day instead of 2.
And ask the vet about the frequent puking.

Every once in a while, mine gets ahold of some paper or tissue and eats it. Then she pukes on the persian rug, never on the tile or the hardwood.

I dont know if this helps but my dog eats really fast and we are always worried she will get a flipped stomach from it which is really bad. We have solved the problem by putting 3 or 4 spoons in her bowl so that she needs to work around them, it definitely slows her down.

Maybe you could just give him a couple spoonfuls at a time to kind of pace how fast he eats it. Also, I was thinking, since you have to separate the cats due to their diet needs, maybe put the cat who eats too fast in the laundry room and let the other cat with the special diet eat in the kitchen so that they're still separate, but you'll only end up with puke in the laundry room and the cat who peed because she was upset about being locked up will be happier.

My cat does that too but for some reason mostly with wet food. Can you maybe cut the portion in half and give it twice a day?

Our cat used to. We feed smaller portions and switch to a gentle belly formula. It worked so we never went to the vet.
