Running in temps below freezing tomorrow. Advice?
Going up to NH to visit my dad tomorrow and the temp with the wind chill is supposed to be 19. Any tips on what to wear? I've never run when it's that cold before!
I have thermal tights, should I put sweats on over them?
How many shirt layers do you think I will need?
Got gloves and will be borrowing a full face mask.
Got my pepperspray too so the coyotes don't eat me!
Any other tips?

I live upstate so it is frequently that cold. 19 degrees will not be as cold as you think once you get a mile or two in. Try not to overdress as you will sweat through your clothes and be cold because of the wind. (I live in a valley where the wind can be brutal). Tomorrow, it is going to feel like 21 here and this is what I will wear:
1. Underarmor long sleeve thin dry fit 2. Short sleeve dry fit 3. North Face Women's Momentum ½ Zip Up - This is a technical pull-over with stretch jersey fleece and mesh ventilation panels - I LOVE it for cold runs - I am literally never cold in it - and I have run in temps close to zero. 4. Ear headband 5. Gloves 6. Running tights - in general my legs stay warm so I never feel the need for more than one layer. If it is really cold - sometimes I layer with a pair of bike shorts as my thighs get cold before my calves.

I agree with the above poster.
Last year when I ran the winter series, there was one day it was 6 below zero with wind chill. I layered pants that day! Check the wind chill, if 15 or lower i would probably layer. Wear tights and a thin pant over to block wind.

ITA about not layering too much.
I wear my insulated tights in that weather alone.
a wicking tank/T and a long sleeve T shirt over that. I just put my hands inside the sleeves and wear a hat/headband. by the end I am sweating and my hands my even come out a bit.
but I wear shorts/T over 45-50

Ha! I am the same way in regards to my hands getting hot. I always need to take off my gloves like 2 miles in since they are so hot!
