C-Section Hosp. Stay 3 or 4 nights?
Just wondering what you've been told if anything, or if you've had a CS in the past, how long did you stay in the hospital?
If you only stayed 3, did you feel it was too short?
I do NOT like hospitals at all, but I have 2 other babies to care for at home and am not liking the idea of being sent home too soon (my Dr. said 3 days).
After my 1st CS I begged to go home after 3 days, but I didn't have OTHER young babies at home to take care of... the nurses and Dr convinced me to stay the 4th day anyway, just to make sure everything was ok and I was glad.
With my 2nd CS, DD was in the NICU so I stayed the 4th day.
NOW with a 3YO and 1YO at home I know I could definitely use the extra day.
I don't think 3 nights is enough after a CS.
My Ins already approved it, but for some reason my Dr. insists, unless there is something wrong, his patients go home after 3 days.
Not sure why he would do that especially when the Ins. Co. (who does NOT want to pay for ANY extra days) OK'd it...

3 both times and hope it's the same this time. I'd rather be home recovering with my babies than stuck in the hospital getting zero rest...I hate hospitals! Lol

Re: C-Section Hosp. Stay 3 or 4 nights?
Last time I was allowed to go home after 3 nights, but H. failed a car seat test and I wanted to stay an additional day to be w/ him.
I hope to be able to go home after 3 nights this time.
See how it goes....if you're feeling up to it, go home. If not, tell the dr and your nurses that you need the extra night.

Re: C-Section Hosp. Stay 3 or 4 nights?
with DS i stayed 3 nights only because i had no idea i was allowed to leave after 2 nights, and by the time i knew that, my DSs peds had left for the day so they couldn't release him.
the 2nd time i stayed 2 nights because i got a fever the day i was supposed to go home.
ETA: 2-3 nights is more then enough for scheduled, i was walking, not just standing but walking every where after recovery and i was i my room.
made healing so much easier...

Re: C-Section Hosp. Stay 3 or 4 nights?
I stayed 4 nights last time. If I remember correctly the mentioned 3 nights but DD was in NICU and I was appeared for 4 nights. This time as long as the baby and I are healthy I want to be home in 2 or 3 nights.

I only stayed 3 days but I could have stayed another night. I chose to leave. There was no need for me to stay in a crowded hospital room. I felt great and the baby was great

2 nights? Wow, definitely not enough in my opinion for a csection, even if there are no other kids home.
I was up sighing 12 hours last time, but the extra time in the hospital still helped especially having a toddler at home.
Now having the two other babies home, I definitely think 3 days is too soon for me to go home and taking care of everyone.

See I don't know if my dr will give me the option just for not feeling up to it.

Re: C-Section Hosp. Stay 3 or 4 nights?
Both times, my OB said I was cleared to go home after 3 days. I chose to stay for 4 nights both times. Insurance covers it, and truthfully, after the c/s, I needed the time to recover! It's major surgery and I was in no rush to get home, even though I had kids at home!
The first time, I had a private room. The second time, I lucked out with no roomie, so it was well worth the 4th night!

Re: C-Section Hosp. Stay 3 or 4 nights?
I stayed 4 days but that included the day that she was born --- and she wasn't born until 3:03 in the afternoon. So it was just 3 days after that that I was able to "rest" before we came home.
I think I will be OK with doing hte same this time. DH has the whole week off of work. We do have DD 6.5 to take care of this time, but I have a feeling she is going ot be a big help!

I agree on needing the time to recover, ESPECIALLY with other kids at home.
I will be no good to them still on heavy pain meds, not being able to hold, or take care o my 1 yr old... THEY are better off with me in the hospital for the extra day.
So then, even if your dr clears you, you can opt to stay? I know my ins co approved it, but I didn't think that if the doc said it's ok to go, that it would still be an option.
Don't know why I'm stressing one day, but that is a big chunk of healing time in the very beginning.

Sure. My OB said it was up to me. I said I wanted to stay the extra night and he said ok, he would come by the next day to discharge me. He didn't discharge me after 3 days, he just said he could if I wanted to.
My kids at home this time were 5 and 7, so I knew staying wouldn't be terrible. Even then, the day I came home, I slept most of the day while they were in school - I still needed that "down" time.

I'm only staying 3 days! I stayed 3 with dd but I begged ob to leave after 2 days. I hate staying in the hospital and this time I really won't want to stay because I have dd at home.

Re: C-Section Hosp. Stay 3 or 4 nights?
My doc was willing to release after 3 nights. I actually chose to stay 4. I had a private room and was really enjoying the time with DS before going home.
I will be doing the same with DC#3.
I didn't have a C with DS #1. I had him at 6pm on a Thursday and was released at noon on that Sunday. It was WAY too soon for me.
Just a matter of preference. I wasn't in a rush to get home to reality.
