Why people answer to everything is to give away our Dog
I am still pissed and this happen over a week ago.. For the last year we been in a hard economic situation. We both lost our job and had to take big pay cut when we finally got something. When we first lost our jobs and needed to move because we couldnt afford our rental people solution was to get rid of our dog Now we are finally getting back in track from that mess and slowly doing things so we went to visit some family over a week ago and we are telling them how we are finally getting back on track but things always keep happening, we save a little and the car need new brakes, save alittle more and our dog get double ear infection etc. Their respond was, again, well if he keep getting sick and you need to spend money just get rid of him! Are you ***** kidding me!!! I need a smart ass response for this because I am tired of this

ITA! They don't consider it a for life commitment, they're only for it when it's convenient. Sad!
But hang in there! Like the pp said, it can't rain forever!

UGH I feel the same ... My cats are like my children, and especially now, they're the closest things I've got to it!!
People just say REALLY stupid things. I've learned that while experiencing infertility. People have no filter, no empathy, they just say what they think with no regard.
Try not to let it get to you ... You're fortunate in that you know the love between a person and their pet.. this person seems like he'll never have that capacity.

Re: Why people answer to everything is to give away our Dog
People can be idiots.
My father's first solution to anything in my life is to get rid of my furbabies... honestly, he's said to me "in jest" that the best way to handle a dog is to put it in a burlap sack and toss it in the water.
I've told him straight forward that I'd put him an a sack and toss it in the water and collect on the insurance than even think about getting rid of my kids...
He stopped saying anything about my kids to me then...

I would have a hard time associating with someone who has this train of thought.

Exactly! I didnt adopt him just so I can say I have a dog and my thing is that if we didnt take care of him because of our $$ issue I would understand why they tell us to give him away but his food and well been is our main priority like I would had done with real kids.
