I know you're not supposed to count veggies on WW, but what do you do in this scenario?

I had a bag of baby carrots. I roasted them up in some lemon juice and spices. Very good.

Just for shits & giggles, I threw in the numbers in the WW calculator based on the nutrition facts on the back of the bag.

The bag of baby carrots came out to 4 points. So, I added it to my daily intake.

this is part of WW that concerns me. Should I be calculating veggies like carrots, then?

Advice?

You shouldn't count the carrots. I wouldn't be too concerned about over-eating carrots. it's much easier to over-eat chips and cookies. Just get in your 5 servings and you will fine

There are 4 calories in each baby carrot. I don't know anything about WW, but I would certainly track those calories if I ate the whole bag.

I don't know too much about WW but this is exactly what I hear from so many that I really dislike. A calorie, is a calorie, is a calorire. There are no free foods IMHO.

As a vegetarian who eats an almost all raw food diet, I would not be counting most of what I eat all day. Doesn't make sense to me at all.

My understanding is once you use veggies in a recipe you count them- so by adding seasoning you are now using them in a recipe. As a nutrition scientist I do not agree with not counting calories for fruit and veggies they contain macronutrients especially carbohydrates. Each baby carrot contains the same amount of calories as a jelly belly jelly bean. Over eating is over eating....no matter what you are eating. WW works well for many people but this is where it falls short.

Ok, perfect. That was my gut feeling and the reason why I felt I should add it in to see.

I wouldn't count kale or broccoli probably.

You have to count them. If it was just one serving I would say no for WW but when you eat the entire bag you have to count them.

And I disagree that you don't have to count when overeating veggies. I was in a meeting with a woman who over ate green beans and she was gaining like mad.

Totally agreed. This is my beef with WW. Sure eating veggies and fruits is way better than potato chips...but they still have nutritional value and can add up! I get most ofm y carbs from fruits and veggies--if I didn't track them I would be constantly overeating!

I have heard that anything over 5 servings of fruits/veggies is supposed to be counted.

Re: I know you're not supposed to count veggies on WW, but what do you do in this scenario?

Thank you all for the insight!

I see if I had a single serving, then yes, I shouldn't count the points. Being that I ate an entire bag of 5 servings, then the points need to be counted.

I really really reallllly love vegetables. I eat a head of broccoli a day and just bought string beans and am counting down the hours to sautee them up in lemon and garlic.

thanks again!
