Has anyone tried the Bar Method?
I'm thinking of trying this as my 'summer project' sort of. Has anyone done it? Thoughts??

Re: Has anyone tried the Bar Method?
Yes! I have done Bar Method/Core Fusion/Physique 57--all of them are basically the same.
Bar Method is great---would you be going to the one on LI? I've only been to the one in the city but I'm sure they are all similar. Its a GREAT workout---very good for toning. It is always challenging, no matter how much you do it. You will be extremely sore after the first, second, maybe third times you do it but it will be worth it.
I highly recommend!

Thanks Rachel! I'd probably go to the one in Soho - they have a new member monthly unlimited that I would do. Do you still go at all? We should coordinate!!!

Re: Has anyone tried the Bar Method?
Yes, that one is good! If they have a deal going on, definitely grab it. I actually go to Physique 57 mostly these days because it is closer to my apartment (I have a package). I actually went to P57 this morning and was at the barre next to Emmy Rossum--how about that for a celebrity sighting. So I've bought deals at Bar Method before but since I like to go often, Physique 57 is just so much easier for me.
My only complaint about Bar Method is how they critique over the microphone. I love how the teachers know your name and helps you by "fixing" your position throughout the class (so you get the most out of your workou)t but In Bar Method, for some reason the teacher usually critiques over the microphone instead of just coming over to you and saying it just to you in a whisper. So half the class I felt it was "Rachel, move your legs differently" or something like that. But if you are just getting started, you will need to be critiqued anyway so I say go for it.
I guarantee you that you will leave the class feeling like Jell-o but you will DEFINITELY see results. I feel so much stronger since I started going to these classes.

Is Bar Method in Soho convenient for you? Its a bit more money but there is also a Physique 57 package for newcomers. I go to the one on 57th and 5th because its the most convenient for me from the office and apartment!

I could totally do 57th and 5th! That's actually WAY more convenient! Do you know if I can try a class before buying the package? This sounds fantastic!

Have you done the DVDs of any of these? I'd like to get into the workouts as well but the class locations are not convenient for me. I also travel for work so thought the videos would work for me. I'm wondering if the videos are as good/true to the actual classes.

I actually bought a full set of the Physique 57 DVDs in an effort to cut my class expenses. They DVDs are good, I'm just more motivated myself in a class than at home (I've never stuck with at home exercise routines). They vary a bit from the in class movements but are definitely difficult. I would recommend them though---sometimes I come home from a run and pop in the Abs and Arms Booster and its HARD. So if you are considering them, definitely try one of the DVDs!

Thanks for the info! Do you know if there are any major differences between Physique 57 and Bar Method? I need to look into both to figure out and decide which one to buy. I'm wondering if they're similar and it's just personal preference. Will also have to see if they're available for download onto my ipad. That would be so convenient when I'm traveling for work.

No, I don't think there is. I'd look at Amazon for reviews though.
