9 month old and sleeping: advice please

My DD had been sleeping pretty well for a long while now. She would go down between 7:30 and 8 and then wake up between 4:30 and 6. That was fine for us because I would get to nurse her before leaving for work.

Last week she was sick and not eating particularly well during the day so she would wake up at 1 a.m. every night and I would nurse her. I now know that I shouldn't have done that because now she still wakes up at 1 a.m. and wants to be fed.

Two nights ago, DH went into her room and she screamed but he calmed her down and she got back to sleep without being nursed. Last night, DH got frustrated and I had to go in there. When she saw me, she frantically looked to be nursed and I gave in. It's so hard not to. Chat Icon

Should I just keep making DH go in to get her back to sleep? What other advice would you have?

THANKS!

I would say that you definitely shouldn't go in, so if you feel like someone needs to go in her room at night then send in DH.

Have you tried not having anyone go in? Maybe she just needs a little time to put herself back to sleep?

at 9 months I would have no one go into the room at all.
I would let her cry it out and hopefully she will quickly learn to put herself back to sleep and then hopefully she will stop waking up at 1 am all together.

Good Luck

Personally, I am not a fan of CIO. It just isn't for me. We went through phases like this with both of our boys, through teething, growth spurts, sickness, etc. My husband always goes in first. Most times, he can get him to calm down. If he is in there for a long time, and I still hear screaming, then I go in and nurse him. Sometimes, they just need that comfort, or may be a little hungry for whatever reason. We've never had an issue with bad habits forming.
