Potty train by 3 for preschool?

I was going to use the YMCA patchogue preschool. My son just turned 3 (Aug 3rd). Does anyone have any experience with this preschool or any others that required potty training by 3- how strict are these requirements?

I find it a little absurd especially since "readiness" is a big thing being advertised in the US when it comes to potty training- so why suddenly require a child to be trained by 3. I am from a different country and they definitely have ages for potty training and no one cares about readiness but that is not the case here so what gives.

Also, any recs for other preschools in the area without potty training requirements?

I think most are strict with it since they are not licensed to change diapers unless they are a daycare.

We are going to one of the Y's for 3 y.o. preschool this September. My DS is not fully potty trained, he recently turned 3 too. Though they say they must be, the director said he can come in diapers and they will call me if there is a major diaper issue as they are strict with not changing them. I plan to put him in an overnight and hope he's trained soon. He is only going to a 2.5 hr/day program though, so it's not like it's all day.

Potty train by 3 for preschool?

AJ’s school was clear on that. If she was 3 and if she could go into the primary class she HAD to be potty trained. If not, she stayed in pre-primary. She was easily ready to move up but wasn’t potty trained until the summer she turned 3 (last year). Later they said they would have accepted her if she was potty TRAINING but not if she was purely on diapers.

There’s a difference in staff, activities and in class environment from those monitoring for poopie or soggie diapers vs those who are doing the potty dance. They still have accidents in AJ’s class but not as frequent. Everyone is respectful of their fellow classmates who need to use the bathroom.

I always wanted AJ to get there on her own for potty training but yes, I pushed that summer. Thankfully AJ was ready. I was a wreck in worry because I didn’t want her in the pre-primary class (for several reasons). She got into Primary at 2 (going on 3 by a few weeks) and has been great.

My son goes to Kasha Academy Main Street in Sayville

They encourage to be potty trained but are licensed to change them if they have an accident (so it is not mandatory to be potty trained)

Good Luck!

I chose a preschool that is diaper friendly so I wouldn't have to feel pressured to potty train him by 3.

Creations in Sayville will take children who are not potty trained.
