Re: Milk? Organic or Non?
Organic for sure. Non organic milk comes from cows that are most likely given Gmo feed, antibiotics and are not raised in a humane way.

Re: Milk? Organic or Non?
more info than what you asked, but its harmless to share, I hope...
organic is not enough for me, there are too many loopholes in organic regulations. I'm very distrustful of organic labels and do the research on the foods we eat the most.
I try to find grass fed cow milk, from one farm sources that are pasteurized (as apposed to ultra pasteurized)

Milk? Organic or Non?
DS always gets organic whole milk, I usually buy it at Trader Joe's. DH and I drink 1%. Sometimes I buy organic for us if it is on sale, but usually its regular for us. Once DS moves onto 1% we will all drink organic.

Awesome source! Thanks! I thought organic was organic. My Nature's Choice for my little guy is only "two cows". I'll have to find another brand.
To the OP, I used regular milk when I first started transitioning last week, but then read an article that milk is on the list of the top 10 foods that should be organic. So, I switched to organic in his second week of milk.

I only knew about this source from LIF parents! (seriously this forum rocks!)
but btw, their rating is just their opinion, all they do is call the company and ask a few questions, you can call the company yourself and ask your own questions come to your own conclusions, call the farm directly, find out who the farm is supplying the milk, by entering the code here

Re: Milk? Organic or Non?
Thanks everyone for your responses. I was all set to buy organic today at costco and the only organic they had was 1%. I was bummed because I was out of formula and needed milk so I just bought regular and after reading articles I felt guilty. I am going to switch after I use up the milk I have.

This site seems a bit biased? It's sponsored by "family scale" farmers who are clearly going to try to knock bigger (and cheaper) producers to boost their own reputations.
Would love to know more about the organic regulations "loopholes".. I thought getting organic certified was pretty strict?

Re: Milk? Organic or Non?
I'm not a nut about everything being organic, but milk is the one thing that I won't compromise on.
I buy it from BJs and it's $3/per 1/2 gallon. That's the cheapest I've seen it.

Of course its biaed, what isnt... but personally am myself biased for small farmers. They dont have resources big companies do, if they get caught breaking rules their livliehood is over. They are usually one farm in one location, you can see for yourself what they are.
Horizon, for example, gets their milk from many different farms. Certification requires only some proportion of these farms be organic.
Google where does my milk come from there is an app that will track by the code on the milk bottle. Find the farm it comes from, you can then call the farm and ask for yourself the questions, for the reasons why you choose organic milk.

I dont like the ingredients in store bought almond milk, and rice is high arsenic, I wouldnt drink rice milk every day....but those are just my reasons. There are plenty of people drinking these on daily basis and living healthy, just personally dont like it.
