Hey all ,, after having my combined test at my 12 weeks scan ,, i came back with a 1:4 chance of downs syndrome ,, after these results had a complicated few weeks with bleeding and pain among other things ,, i decided after much consideration to have a amino ( needle through tummy to take fluid from around baby to get a 99% result for most chromosome problems ,,, i had the aminosentisis on Monday , and another problem arose where my water are severely contaminated with my blood ,, they said even with this there was less than a 1 in 100 chance it wldnt work which made me feel better ,,, u get two sets of results first set 2-3 days after amino and second 2-3 weeks after ,,, i got my rapid results today and they are inconclusive due to too much contamination and there's a high chance the second results are going to be inconclusive ,,, i just dnt no what to do Any more ,, every test i have seems to bring to light a new problem and each tests has its own risks ,, i already have a two year old and Im finding it so hard too stay on top of my emotions and life generally ,, sorry to write so much an be negative ,,, any advice or anyone who has been or is going through similar wld be amazing to chat ,,, xxxx

What about taking the MaterniT21 blood test? It's fairly new and almost as accurate in detecting Downs and Trisomy 18 and 13 as an amnio, but it's just a blood test. I opted to have this over the amnio.

I have no experience/advice with the contamination, but a friend of mine had a 1 in 6 chance of her baby having downs’s after initial tests, scans, screens.. Amnio results came back perfectly fine.
And I get what you’re saying about every appt. bringing another problem. That’s how I felt with my pregnancy. Found out that we had a 1 in 128 chance for down’s, then they found a white spot on her heart, then I found out I had gest. diabtetes. It just never ended, and I almost dreaded every appt.
I am so sorry that you’re going through this and we are all here for you!!!!

This is what I was going to recommend. I opted for this over a CVS. I have twins though, and would have done the further testing if Maternity21 came back with pos. results because it would not have told us which baby. But for a singleton, it would be very accurate. Look into this..it's about 10 days for the results to come back.

I'm so sorry. I don't have experience with contamination, but went for a CVS yesterday. I've had some complications with this pregnant. I wish I could offer you more, but I'm here if you need someone to talk to.
