Baby name change?

Well, we hashed it out and I spoke to two of my friends who think what I am experiencing is normal.
One even had a family member change the first name .. which now I can not seem to do and will go with my gut . We might just end up changing her middle name to Claire. I was just like "whatever with her middle name"originally and DH feels the same way because we struggled with the first name for so long. Claire is boring as I originally thought as a first name. Right now her middle name is the same as her brother's Frances but with es at the end instead of "is". We already are honoring his parents with DS middle name as Francis.

There is nothing wrong to second guess a name someone will have the rest of their lives. I see so many people who are indecisive on this board about what headband or costume their child is going to wear on Halloween. I was hoping I would not be flamed for this. I see posters get opinions as to whether they should have a third child, what to do if their child is wheezing ... well call your pediatrician ...duh ... they are asking strangers about stuff like this.

Call me crazy but this is not how you should be talking about the names you just picked for your baby. Chat Icon

I agree. You should love the name you choose for your child and should not second guess your decision. The way that you talk about the names makes it seem like you don't like either name, so why change it.Chat Icon

Baby name change?

2.5 months is a long time to still be unsure. If it was 2.5 days, okay. But 2.5 months is just odd.

Stick with your original name, you chose it for a reason. My mom changed my name when I was a few days old and she still regrets it

Re: Baby name change?

I have a friend who changed her son's name after he was 2 years old. There are children who are adopted and the parents change the given name by the biological parents. It does happen.

I think what people find odd is that you have spent so much time stressing about the name, and you are STILL stressing, and on top of it you are asking if you should change her name to something you do not love. If you came on here saying that you have a name that you fell in love with, and can't picture your DD as anything else, then I think people would support the change. But you come on here and call the name boring, so whats to say that you won't still find it boring in 5 months after you change her name, and then want to change it again?

She is your child, so change the name if you like, but this time be confident with your choice.

I'm considering changing the middle name wise guys ... DH is kind of in agreement. Middle names don't get used as much and thought about as much when picking names. You are very insensitive people. I do like Rebecca a lot as a first name and sticking with it.

Then if it's not such a big deal, why are you spending so much time obsessing over it? I'm not a wise guy nor am I insensitive but if you wanted something to worry about, I could give you plenty.

Baby name change?

I'm sorry, but you've been obsessing about names for what seems like your entire pregnancy and now that you have a healthy baby girl. You're getting upset that people are tired of giving you their opinion, because quite frankly at this point the whole thing is laughable. You had polls, you had posts...it's over, the baby is here. Do you know how many women would kill to be in your position? Name your kid Regina Fellange or Princess Consuela Banana Hammock. I don't know it you're looking for confirmation that the name Rebecca is a great name or if you're looking for a reason to change, but please for the love of all that is good in this world stop obsessing about this. And, if you want to obsess, don't get mad that people find it funny at this point.

Baby name change?

I'm not sure what this was exactly about, but I can kind of put it together. I second guess myself so much and prolong making decisions because I know I'll probably end up feeling I should have made the other choice. Because I know this about myself it makes me nervous to make someone else's name legal and permanent. I understand if this is how you felt/feel (if I got that right). I hope you are happy with whatever decision you make. Your LO is lucky to have someone who cares so much. Just don't let the stress get in the way of your quality time with her.

Baby name change?

Why did you make a whole new thread instead of replying to the one you made a few hours earlier?

Did you grow up with a name you hated and that's why you are having such a difficult time?

And lastly, I think it's a bit rude to say what you said about the names Rebecca and Claire (harsh, boring) because there may be someone on this site with those names or someone on this site who has a DD with one of those names and they may find your comments offensive.

Oh one more question -- why did you make a fake name?

But you just said you didn't like Rebecca in the other post and that Claire was your favorite now Claire is boring and you love Rebecca. Chat Icon I can't keep up. Chat Icon

Seriously, it's just a name. Stop second guessing and stressing. You named her, leave it be. I wouldn't even change the middle name. Just accept that you named her what you named her and move on. I get stressing and being indecisive about a name during the pregnancy but you have a 2.5 month old baby now, it's time to just let it go.

She has a name, learn to love it and move on with your life............go enjoy your baby and stop worrying about all the other names you could have chosen for her. You're being ridiculous IMO.
