Photographer question
An old friend is a photographer and we asked him if he could take pictures of the DD and of us as a family. He gave us his usual rate for a sitting fee (300) but said he would charge us around half of that.
We went for our photo shoot. He took us to a few outdoor locations. We went out for lunch with him and his wife (also an old friend of mine) and when I was off with his wife, DH though it would be a good time to pay. He gave him $200 and asked if that was good. Our friend said yes and that was that.
A few days later, I got an email asking which email address is best. I gave him the email and asked if we would be getting a CD of the pictures or what. He said we would get the photos uploaded to a web site where we could order pictures.
The pictures are beautiful but they cost a fortune on this web site. I'm wondering why he didn't just give us the pictures on a CD. I know this is something I should have squared away beforehand but I didn't think of it. I know that photography is his livelihood and he probably gets royalties from people ordering his prints but I'm pretty turned off by this.
What do you think? Should I say something? I don't want to jeopardize the friendship.
Thanks for the advice!

Re: Photographer question
He should of been upfront with what was included in his session and that a session fee doesn't equal prints on a disk. It is why everyone free session, friend etc should get a contract which outlines everything. I would contact him and say how you love the images and ask if there was a discount on prints or purchase of disk. From what I think his sitting fee is, most likely he expects a $1000 total investment if not more and that most likely doesn't equal high res disk especially in higher end studios.
