exercise after half marathon?

How soon after a half marathon can you run again? How much rest should I give myself. Can I do cardio? Or should I rest a few days? I have a little soreness in my legs and feet so I definitely want to take it easier, but when am I safe to return?

exercise after half marathon?

I was usually good to go after a day or two of rest. Then I'd take it easy for my first post-race workout. Congrats!!

I thought about doing a recovery run today but skipped it Chat Icon. You definitely want to give yourself some recovery time so if you do decide to run in the next day or so, make sure its an easy run.

I'll be back to my normal workout schedule by Wednesday!

I was either gonna do a recovery run today or tomorrow. I would have been okay for today but decided to push it to tomorrow because of the rain. Figure I'll do an easy 3 miles.

After my half marathon, I ran an easy run the next day - probably 45 minutes.

Someone once told me to rest one day for each mile run. So after my half's,I always happily take off about 1.5 / 2 weeks!

I run the next day. IT's good to keep the legs moving.

You don't lose your endurance that way? Thats what I'm afraid of. I still have a little pain so I haven't ran since Sunday. I just dont want to injure myself. I just am afraid I'll lose my endurance if I miss anymore days!

I've taken off as much as 3 weeks after a half, and didn't really feel it impacted my endurance. I'm not really a competitive runner though - so time isn't as important to me.

With that being said, I've now taken off about 6 months due to pregnancy, so that for sure will hurt my endurance!
