Help with an EBF baby who won't take bottle
DS is almost 3 months also and is having a hard time taking a bottle. I started introducing a bottle at around 3 weeks and he took it but always had some difficultly. He will gag, push it out with tongue and cry. We've tried Medela, advent, tommee tippee and most recently first years breast flow. I'm never in the room or give him the bottle. I'm going back to work on Monday :( Any advice??

I love the MAM nipples.... they can be used on the PURA stainless bottles.

My son needed to be held close and the bottle had to be the perfect temperature. Maybe try warming the milk a little more. Good luck!

Re: Help with an EBF baby who won't take bottle
The only bottle DS would take was Born Free. DD did well with Playtex Ventaire. I've also heard that sometimes they will take a bottle better from someone other than you (DH, grandparent, babysitter, etc.).

Re: Help with an EBF baby who won't take bottle
my DD takes born free but never from me...and I can't be in the house...my other two went back and forth no problem...(so this was new to me for the 3rd)
If i am out she wont give my DH a prob...But I cannot give it to her or be around..
no worries she will not starve..when she realizes she wont get it from the "tap" she will cave and take it from whomever is watching her! She might give some trouble at first...but I assure you it will pass!

Who is giving him the bottle? I would have someone else besides yourself give him the bottle. I would also recommend that you not be in the room. He may refuse the bottle if he can sense your presence.

Re: Help with an EBF baby who won't take bottle
We used Dr. Brown's and dd seemed to like them. It did take a few attempts for her to get used to the idea but she got there.

Re: Help with an EBF baby who won't take bottle
Keep trying. And trying. The baby will get it.
My DD wouldn't take Avent, Dr Browns, or Tommee Tippee. She finally took to the Playtex drop-ins but only with the brown (latex) nipple. After a few weeks of that she was okay with anything.
Keep trying. Try some more. Good luck!
