The only way I can brush her teeth is if I lay her down or put her in the highchair with the seat reclined and tell her to look up.

Do you let her watch TV? There is a yo gabba gabba episode where plex sings a song "Its fun to brush your teeth"... maybe you can show her that on you tube.. DD likes that a lot and wanted to brush her teeth after seeing it.

Re: In tooth brushing hell!
We let DS brush his own teeth with a little brush and then I used another to brush with him. We did the spin brush around 2. They have little brushes that light up. DS loves those..

In tooth brushing hell!
I made up a little song that I sing while I'm brushing DS's teeth.

Re: In tooth brushing hell!
My DD still gives me a bit of a hard time but we pretend someone is trapped in there (dinosaurs, Hello Kitty...) and we have to rescue them/brush them out. Seems to work most of the time.

Re: In tooth brushing hell!
I had this problem with DS. We started to pretend we had to get the dinosaurs out of his teeth. Then he would come up with that we had to get butterflies out of there. Then it was snakes etc. Every night it's a new creature that we have to brush out. It works for him though! He also likes to watch himself brush in the mirror.
DD won't let me brush her teeth, and the only way we got her to even put it in her mouth was by letting her stand on the toilet seat so she could feel like a big girl.

In tooth brushing hell!
my 19m old DD literally LOVES brushing her teeth. we do it mostly in the bath - thats where we started. maybe you can try adding it to your bath routine and once she starts liking it there maybe it will be easier for her out of the bath too? first i pretend to brush mine, then she opens her mouth for me and i brush hers as much as i can before she grabs the brush and tries to do it herself. sometimes she brushes her lips instead of her teeth but overall im just happy she doesn't fight me on it.

Re: In tooth brushing hell!
some toothpaste tubes have characters on them. I have an orajel one with elmo and my dd loves elmo. So she just holds and looks at the tube while she's sitting on my lap and I brush.

Re: In tooth brushing hell!
DD was always good at brushing her teeth, but started getting difficult around 20 months or so. I read a tip on here to go through what she ate that day and sometimes it totally works. I'll say "what did you eat today? Banana? I think I see a piece back there--I have to get it out." Often times, she'll buy it and open it up wide.
Other times I have to sit her on my lap, facing me and then lay her head back on my knees. I also let "her do it" and then I try to go in the for the finish.
