Received horrible news...
I had a cvs test done 2 weeks ago and my FISH results came back normal. Well, apparently the 2% inaccuracy in those results was what happened to me. So here I am, almost 17 weeks pregnant, my baby boy has trisomy 18 and will be terminated.
They told me I will deliver the baby at Columbia in Manhattan. Does anyone know if I'm knocked out for this? Please tell me yes....
I don't know protocol for any of this. Do you bury the baby? Cremate it? I have an appointment tomorrow at Madonna in Mineola and I expect they'll go over this with me.
I thank you all for answering my questions in my quest to find an OB, morning sickness cures, etc. I wish you all great success and love...

Im so very sorry.
I think the decision to bury the baby will be up to you. Having suffered a lose at 24 weeks, my suggestion is to bury the baby.
In the case of stillborns or preterm labor, the baby has to be buried after 20 weeks gestation. Not sure how this applies to terminations though.

I'm so sorry you are going through this!! Do you know if you are having a D&E procedure or being induced? D&E is something that takes several days, so it sounds as if you are going to be induced, in which case you would not be knocked out. In NY state there is a certain fetal age at which you HAVE to either cremate or bury the baby, not sure if it's at 20 weeks or greater, but that's something to ask your doctor they should know. I am so very sorry for your loss, I hope you receive excellent care and compassionate nurses at Columbia! Feel free to FM me if you have any other questions.

I feel like I'm living in a really bad nightmare and can't wake up.
I'm assuming it's the D&E? They mentioned it's going to be a few appointments before the procedure. I'm scared to look it up.

I experienced a similar experience a few months ago at 21 weeks. I am so sorry, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy!!! I was 21weeks at the time. I was given the option to labor and delivery or have a d&e and I chose the d&e. It was a 2 day procedure at the hospital. Feel free to ask meany questions. I could have taken the remains with me and bring to a funeral home, but J chose not to do this.
