if your toddler had a fever of 99.8, you wouldn't take him out of the house for 5 hours, would you?

Probably not. Especially with so much going around. I would give them Tylenol and let the rest.

To go where? If it was to my parents or in laws, probably. To be out and about, running errands or whatever, definitely not.
For 99.8 I would just lat them rest and make sure they're hydrated. I don't give tylenol until 101 or higher though.

yeah, there is a lot of stuff going around right now- guess we'll just rest this weekend.
It would have been errands, he wouldn't be ablte to rest/sit unless in the car or if DH was carrying him.

I don't think 99.8 is even considered a fever in many kids. So, to answer the question, it wouldn't automatically mean my child were sick. Now if it were 100.8 then, no, I wouldn't.

ITA - I don't even think 99.8 is a bad fever.

According to my ped 99.8 is NOT a fever. A fever in kids is anything 100.4 and higher. I have had several peds say some kids run in the 99 range normally (running around, dressed too warm etc.) So that temp by itself wouldn't keep us home. If they are acting sick and not feeling well then yes, we would stay home. I don't think it is a blank and white answer. But if my child was feeling off, or sick I would probably stay home or at grandmas house bc there is so much going around now.

depends on how the kid is acting. If the kid is acting tired or sick I wouldnt take them out. If they are acting fine I would take them out.

I have never considered 99.8 a fever. I would check it later to be sure and make sure DC is hydrated. There's so much going around right now you are probably better off not taking DC out to crowded public places. Hope you guys are all OK and no one is getting sick!

Although I wouldn't consider it a fever, something is obviously causing the rise in body temperature so I would stay home to let my dc rest. I would hate to have it worsen by taking my dc out for an extended period of time.

My son usually runs around 99-100... It isn't considered a fever unless it is over 100.4. My pedi won't even see my son at that temp unless he is showing symptoms...

I wouldn't consider it a fever so I'd go about things as normal. However, if he was acting a bit off like he wasn't feeling well, I prob wouldn't take him somewhere public.

I'm not sure why this isn't considered a "fever"... My kids school nurse sends them home once they hit 99.6 (1 degree above "normal")... So no, I wouldn't go out for tfe day. I'd think something was brewing.

Wow really? Ours goes by the 100.4 . I don't think I would be happy with that. I am very much about staying home when sick but unless the child is really not feeling well my ped wouldn't even think it is a fever. All you have to do to get that temp is put them in a warm sweater and have them run around. Maybe they are being overly cautious since it is a bad flu season.
