Is this PPD?
My baby is 7 months old. After I had him, I was very hormonal, A crying mess. After about 3 weeks I finally started to feel like myself again.
But now, at night I cry when i put him to bed because i love him so much. I am constantly afraid of something bad happening to him. I get flashes of horrible things that could happen and it makes me cry. I worry what if there is a fire, or the house collapses.... I worry if something might happen to me. It started only at night but now even at work or on my way to work my mind wanders to these gloomy images...,
I think i need to see someone. Do i call my ob? What do I say.? Just that I need an appt. Or that i think i need a therapist? It has been 7 months and i dont want the receptionist to be like WTF?

You can say you are looking for a therapist for possible PPD and do they have any referrals in the area. I'm sure they get calls all the time like that and anytime in the first year it can show up.

Re: Is this PPD?
No one can truly answer this but you, bc you are the one who knows how these thoughts and feelings are affecting your life.
That said, I am a mommy of 4 and I can attest to the fact that there is not a day that goes by that I don't worry about the safety and well being of my kids. I get those crazy scary thoughts as well. To me, I feel like its just the way mommys think/feel.

Re: Is this PPD?
I felt like this often when DS was a baby.. still do and he's 6 now! It's part of the worry we feel as mommies bc so much is out of our control as they get older. It's so frightening! If you feel like it is hindering you or taking over your mind, please find someone to talk to. It could be a form of PPD but it can also be hormones and your body being stressed and tired. A professional can usually tell between the two! Feel better

Is this PPD?
I have been worried like that since day one. First fear was SIDS, then a fire, break-in, gas explosion etc. I am a worrier by nature so this isn't a shock to those around me. I am not sure what is considered PPD but I would consult with a Professional just to double check. My DS is a year now and my new fear, him pulling something down on top of himself...it NEVER ends!

Re: Is this PPD?
I attribute mine to anxiety but maybe it is some form of PPD. I was just talking to my sister the other day about I get these bad images in my head about something happening to the baby. Like vivid but only for a second or two. It doesn't really impact me or hinder me except for the way it makes me uncomfortable in the moment. Might be worth mentioning to your doctor though, since you are asking.

Re: Is this PPD?
While I'd say it's normal to have those thoughts and fears as a mommy, I think those thoughts bringing you to tears nightly at 7 mos pp may be more. It can't hurt to talk to someone.
:hugs:
