Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
Especially if you had 3 under 3. I'm 28 weeks with my 3rd and I'm getting nervous!!! My twins will be 2 in 2 weeks.
Maybe it's because I am starting to slow down energy wise and my twins learned how to climb out of the crib/pack n play but I have been wondering how am I going to do this!!! I know you just do...but how do you stay sane?
How soon were you able to take all 3 out alone? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!!

I bought a used triple jogger stroller for walks etc. I am going to see what happens once the baby comes for the rest. I have a double citi mini right now. I'm thinking having the twins in that and the baby in the ergo. I may look into the joovy big caboose also. Eta: I also got a single snap n go

Re: Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
I'd like to hear answers too!
I will have 3 under 2 in 3 short months.
I did purchase a 2nd hand Joovy caboose to use with all 3. I have a double city mini now and will probably add the toddler stand and see where the boys are when the new one comes. Although I hear GREAT things about the Valco tri mode.
I am NOT the type to stay home, so I expect to be out and about as soon as possible. The sheer logistics of it all scare the %hit out of me, but then again, so did the idea of twins and I think I do a good job with them
I do worry that there is not enough of ME to go around and really would prefer if my boys had my undivided attention a bit longer. Hopefully, they will all get along and be BFF I have already started to look into a nursery program for the boys to start at age 2. (2hrs/2x a week) I think that will help with keeping them entertained and me being able to have some baby/mommy bonding time. Although the idea of leaving them is so nerve racking !!!!

Re: Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
Not gonna lie, it's ROUGH! My twins were 20 months when the baby was born and the terrible twos were fully upon us (and still are). I definitely suggest getting into a routine as early as possible, it'll take a few days or weeks even to know the baby's schedule, but once you do, get a routine going. Make lists. Try to get up before the twins in the morning to shower and get dressed. I've never taken all 3 out alone. I've always had DH or a friend with me. It's too much right now. Try to prepare meals in advance. This is where I screwed up. I need to start making meals on Sundays or preparing something the night before. There are times when I stand in the kitchen and cry. There are times when all I want to do is scream and there are times when I just need to get out of the house. If you have family around to help around the house, take it. We don't have any help from family to do house things, so I feel like nothing ever gets done. It's going to be rough for a bit, but you'll get a flow going and find what works best for you hope your feeling well!!

I am scared. but this is kind of what I expected. My twins are going to be 17 months when this next one is born and I'm not gonna lie, I've cried several times about it. We are so grateful and happy especially since we really never thought we'd get pregnant on our own, but I honestly have no idea how we're gonna do it. I am exhausted now and stretched so thin I really can't wrap my brain around adding another one in. Especially when they both start their crying tantrums, I just sit and think soon ill have all 3 crying.
I just pray and hope maybe ill have an easy newborn who sleeps a lot and is easy going since neither of my boys was like that. Oh boy!

There are MANY times where my twins throw tantrums and the baby is crying too. I've definitely had to walk in The other room for a few seconds and take a few deep breaths because if I didn't I would start crying too! It's not going to get easier until the twins are more independent. Mine are 25 months now and I am hoping by the time they are three, it'll be a little easier than it is now. It's crazy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm sure you'll establish a routine and there will be days that your whole routine is thrown off. There will be days where it will go so smoothly. But, you get through it.

Just know that it does get better and get all the help you can in the beginning.
My twins were 1 month shy of 3 when our 4th baby (my oldest was 6)...seriously I had anxiety attacks throughout my whole pregnancy...somehow it just works out. I got lucky and my 4th was my easiest baby.

Re: Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
im the opposite as you but my DS is almost 4 and the girls just turned 4 months.
this is the first time ive been on my computer in almost 2 months!!!
i think having the twins first, you may think 1 baby is a breeze. the twins will still be needy and what your attention. im not sure the terrible 2s will be rough, the terrible 3s are what i experienced!!! (and that was before the twins arrived for me) i feel like i was alwya feeding them and he needed me. i know many say to tend to your older child first as the infant wont know the difference - i tried that - but my patience grew thin w my DS as he was always screaming, acting out or fooling around, just for attention.
i def havent gone out w all 3. i usually take one twin w me and my son when i take/pick up from school or need to do errands. that is if you have someone to help you.
i think you will be fine and do great!! like i said, having 2 and then 1, you may think its a breeze!!

OH ive cried MANY MANY MANY times. it just happens some days. ive also joked to my DH that i want to just run away!! BUT i dont even have sneakers to do that.. haha.. ive def fallen to the bottom of the priority list and maybe thats what makes it so hard in the beginning. its a good 2 months of hard times, but it gets easier.

Thanks for all the responses! Glad I am not alone in my thinking.
I know I will survive and I will cry. heck I cry now sometimes!
We have had a couple of crazy weeks with the stomach virus, lots of traveling and climbing out of the cribs I am sure once we get back home and get back to a routine my anxiety will settle down a bit. Thanks for your responses so far!

Re: Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
Like PP said, it's definitely not a walk in the park. I had 3 under 2 for about 3 months. Now my twins are over 2 and my DD is 7 months. It's crazy. It's hectic. But it's also fun. My twins are in a very fresh phase right now so even if I didnt have the baby they would still be giving me a run for my money. In the very beginning it was fairly easy b/c all she did was sleep all day. Then it got rough when she entered the "I want to be held all day" stage. Now that she's rolling around and trying to crawl it's starting to get a little easier again. Like I said before, my twins are pushing my buttons the last few months so they are the reason I don't take all 3 out by myself. I did in the beginning but they were much better behaved back then. I didn't find it to be that much more of a hassle since I was already used to having the 2 of them already.
You'll be fine. You'll have your days, maybe even weeks. But don't we all no matter how many kids we have? In the end they will all be so close it will be worth it.

Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
My friend is due Feb 14 with her daughter. She has twins now that are 17 months now. She will surely be busy. I think once one has twins....having a third and a singleton will seem like a breeze

Re: Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
I think my experience is totally different since I had a single then twins. But my DS was 2y 9m when my girls were born. He got the boot out of the stroller and was forced to walk anywhere we went. By the time DH was back to work (the girls were about 3 weeks old) I started venturing out with all 3 by myself.
I started off slow because I was so afraid (I ebf) I wouldn't be able to handle it. There is a tiny non crowded playground by my house. So we went their first. I did ok. So 2 weeks later we journeyed to the mall. Once I did that I was as free as a bird (well at least as free as one could be with 3 under 3 ).
Knowing how my twins are (at 21 months) though....I don't think I will be able to ditch the stroller until they are 20 Whenever I let them walk they are all over the place. One will be good about holding my hand but the other will run the opposite direction. So then I go after the runaway and I've lost the attention of the one that hand holding. It's a vicious cycle. I think your idea of wearing the baby and keeping the twins in the stroller is a smart move!

Re: Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
I can now confirm that the HARDEST part of having twins and an infant is when all all three of them have the stomach flu at the same time and mommy gets it and stays up for over 24 hrs taking care of a screaming child and sharing a bucket. The rest is a walk in the park

FYI not sure if it is the same bug but it is super contagious for up to 2 weeks. DS had it and then gave it to 15 people!

Omg! It was terrible! Every one in daycare got it. Kids and adults. I go the call Friday to pick up DS and by the time I got there, they were all dropping like flies. Thankfully it went around the room and everyone pretty much got it the same day. They are finally starting to feel better. I thankfully feel better. Bu I was in no way shape or form prepared for this, lol! It was a rough few days. Apparently the stomach flu is going around hard this year. I heard there are so many different strains of I gong around, I doesn't matter at all if you got the shot

Re: Moms with twins and another dc-how is it
My twins were 26 months when #3 was born. I found the transition to be really easy. Honestly, the hardest part was being exhausted from being up all night with a newborn, but the kids were fine. It was just like, ok, there's another kid here. There were no jealousy issues or anything like that. Recovering from a c-section was a little difficult because the twins were still in cribs, so I had to lift them in and out etc. I took all of them out by myself pretty early, i want to say once I was cleared to drive -what is that 4 weeks or 6 weeks? When I went out I'd put the twins in the double and the baby in the ergo carrier. Now that they are older (4 and almost 2) the twins walk and the little one is in the stroller. Sure, its chaotic at times, and there are many days I'm counting the minutes to bedtime, but it is awesome having them all so close in age.
