Re: Moms who had their Second child
It was so hard. DS was 2 1/2. Ad I was a sahm. We were always together.
But you have no choice!
DS was mostly with DH and with in laws a little. I left a typed "daily schedule" for them. DS came to visit once.

Moms who had their Second child
I am so worried and Im not even having my c-section till May. My DS will be 16 months old. Im nervous about not seeing him as much each day and who will be taking care of him. My ILs do not have a crib and will not be keeping him overnight. Im not comfortable at all with them taking my DS for long periods of time. Im very close to my mom and she watches him 3x a week. I also know she wants to be with me in the hospital. I have spent time away from my DS when I had the stomach virus but still. I hate being away from him so I know it is going to be a tough time.

Yes! My girls are only 14 months apart and it broke my heart leaving my oldest! It was the first night we were ever apart. I cried the whole time and left the hospital after only 24 hours so I could go home to her!

Re: Moms who had their Second child
I'm not going to lie that it was the hardest separation I had with my older daughter, she was almost 2 at the time, when I went to the hospital to give birth to my youngest. The day she came to vist her sister and I omg... The minute I saw her I started hysterically crying and holded her so tight. I don't think there is a magic receipe that can help to go through that without emotions... Sorry I wish there was one. Just make sure your son stays home with someone that he loves and adores, besides you, that will make you calm a little bit and show him as much love as possible when the baby comes and you will be fine. It will take you sometimes but now you need to learn how to love both of them equally.

Re: Moms who had their Second child
It was a teeny bit sad for me, I'll admit..I remember thinking "will be miss me, i don't want him to be upset or jealous etc.."
But looking back now, I can honestly say that it all went great. They are in good hands!! My mom brought him to the hospital to see us and his new brother, they all hung out for a few hours and before you know it you're home!! and then chaos officially starts!!
This time around, I am really looking forward to my "mini vacation" in the hospital, lol!! How sick is that?? I know its the most quiet I'll have for some time and everyone will be great!!

Moms who had their Second child
Ds is three weeks old and dd was 16 months when he was born. I was an absolute wreck. The plan was my parents would come up to the hospital each morning to visit then dh would drop dd off with them and come to the hospital for the rest of the day. unfortunately my dad needed his aortaiimmediately replaced at a hospital in Manhattan so that plan was squashed. mil's job would not give her off. so I was a mess going in to have ds...who came a week earrlier than my scheduled Csection. It all worked out but it was really difficult leaving her. Had the situation been a little less chaotic, I think I would have been calmer

Moms who had their Second child
I was a mess the entire pregnancy because I feared leaving ds. The first night he asked me why I wasn't coming with him home it broke my heart. He is very much into Thomas and I bought a few trains and has them wrapped at the house from his sister. I told him there was a surprise from his sister at home. He left and each time he came to visit he brought me the toy his sister gave him. It was a game for him and he wasn't that bad. Me on the other hand missed him like crazy.

Re: Moms who had their Second child
DD was two when i had DC2. She was completely fine. She was 4 by the time I had DC 3. DC 2 was FINE. DD1 cried one night when she left the hospital. But she understood that i would be coming home soon.
DON'T stress about it. At 18 mos, DS will be fine. trust me.

Re: Moms who had their Second child
When you say 'leaving him' - you make it sound like you're never coming home !!
My son was either with my parents or my DH while I was in the hospital. He was totally fine.
