BTDT Labor & Delivery for DC 2 compared to DC 1

My due date for DS was July 19 and he was born July 9 which made me 38w5d. My water broke that morning and he was born (vaginally) about 12 hours later. Just wondering how your second (or more) delivery compared to your first in terms of early/late/induced and length of time from start to finish.

My current due date is August 19 with DC 2.

I was induced with my 1st at 39w. Start to finish it was 12 hours. I just had my 2nd. Woke up at 3:30 with a painful contraction was at the hospital by 5 and DS was born at 6:01. No time for an epi. I was 37w3d.

With my first I was induced at 40 weeks, in labor for 22 hours and pushed of 2 hours. With my second I was in labor ( this time I had back labor too) for 11 hours and pushed for 20 minutes. I was given an Epi three times and none of them took with my second.

For my first I was induced at 40w4d. I was in labor about 10 1/2 hrs and pushed for 20 minutes.

For DS 2, I went into labor at 38w 1d. My water broke at 1:30 and he was born at 7:29. He would have come sooner but he knew I wanted a different nurse so he waited until after the shoft change lol! Just kidding, my Dr came right after my water broke to check me but then left the hospital for a few hours and I wasn't progressing. He started me on pitocin at 5:30 and I started pushing around 7:20.

BTDT Labor & Delivery for DC 2 compared to DC 1

My first was due 10/19, he came 10/14. My water broke at 10 pm-ish, and he was born at 9 am-ish. Threw up and went to the bathroom immediately before go-time. It seemed like pushing took forever, 2 steps forward one step back.
My second was due 9/23, was born 9/27. Went into really active labor at 11 pm-ish, he was born 4-5 am. Again, threw up right before I needed to push. Pushing went much much faster and had no tearing (I had a few with the first, nothing major).
No pain meds either time.
Good luck!

OMG this scares the cr@p out of me! I work in the city and am delivering at NSUH. I am petrified of not making it and delivering in a cab!

This is my biggest fear too. I progressed fairly quick with DS and I'm afraid this one will come even faster and I either won't make it or won't have time for an epi! I already mentioned this to my ob and he mentioned induction. I have a while to think about this but I'm already so scared!

I am just thankful my DH hadn't left for work yet. Just a week before I was 1cm dilated and by the time I got to the hospital I was 8cm. Fully dilated by the time they wheeled me to the delivery room and DS was out in 1 push. It was intense. I still cant believe it LOL. I'm sure that's not typical though

So I guess just because ds came early doesn't mean this baby will come early too but it seems second labors aren't as long. Maybe because we're already stretched out in there?

My 1st child was born at 39w 3d. I started dilating at 36 weeks and by 38w my Dr could feel her head and stripped my membranes because she said she'd come anyday. She was so low, I could barely walk! I pushed for 1 hour, 20 minutes.

My 2nd child was born at 40w 2d - I never thought #2 would be late! Didn't start dilating until 37 w and progressed slower, never dropped as low as 1st child. I always thought #2 would drop more since they say your muscles are weaker. My water broke at home again. This time I only pushed for 10 minutes!

Re: BTDT Labor & Delivery for DC 2 compared to DC 1

I was induced 1 week late with DS, labored for I think around 14 hours, pushing for 2 or 3 hours.

I went naturally 4 days late with DD. Woke up at 2:30 am to contractions 4 minutes apart. Got to hospital by 3:45, was told baby would not come till after 11. I told the doctors I needed to push at around 9:35. 9:41, DD came after 2 pushes.

I think this one might walk right out.
