Re: Avoiding certain foods/drinks
The only thing I have changed is I cut down on my caffeine intake. I only have 1 small cup of coffee in the morning now.

Avoiding certain foods/drinks
cut out coffee almost entirely (1 cup a week), sugars (super struggling with this one), all flour products (breads, pasta) and very fatty things trying to adhere to mediterranean diet - lots of veggies, olive oil, eggs, avocado. lots of water drinking.

Avoiding certain foods/drinks
I did fertility treatments, and once I started my last and only successful IVF cycle I changed my diet. I avoided caffeine, ate extremely healthy. I drunk a lot of water and fruit juice(ex:OJ, grape juice etc). I would also drink peppermint tea and broths from soup.

Me too. No caffeine, cut back on alcohol (some days you just need a glas of wine, am i right? ), no gluten, no dairy.
I'm going a bit more extreme with the changes to my diet because I have endometriosis (and have been TTC for over a year) and I recently found a very interesting website/blog about how what we ingest can dramatically increase the symptoms/presence of endometriosis. So I have changed my diet to help those symptoms (and hopefully increase my chances of getting PG), but I plan to continue this way of eating if I am lucky enough to get PG as well.
Check out this website - also a great resource of getting our bodies in the best shape for conception/pregnancy through what we eat: http://natural-fertility-info.com/fertility-diet

Re: Avoiding certain foods/drinks
The only thing I changed was my smoking. I did make dietary changes when I started fertility tx but it was really more like adding fertility friendly foods and substituting flour based foods with corn, rye, wheat, etc.

Cut out caffeine, switched to one cup of water-process decaf in the morning. No alcohol unless its the week I have my period (for sanity's sake, lol) and eating very healthy-limiting meat and dairy, mostly whole foods, plants, etc. I also avoid fish from the high-mercury list, sushi, etc.

Avoiding certain foods/drinks
It took me 2 years to get PG with my DS. DUring that time I eleimated foods, didn't drink and anythign else I could think of.
It does not make a diffeerence unless there is a diagnosed medical issue that you already have I say go about your life. You will sepnd 9 months avoiding things no need to do it now.
I drank right up until the day I got my BFP.

Re: Avoiding certain foods/drinks
I cut back on caffeine, only because I used to drink several cups a day and didn't want to deal with a cold turkey withdrawal when I cut back to one a day.
I changed nothing else. I continued to live my life as usual, enjoying everything in moderation.

Me too. But I am trying to do a better job of remembering to take prenatals with folic acid.

Re: Avoiding certain foods/drinks
nope. Your fetus will not be affected by those things. It creates more stress and stress is the worst thing when TTC.
The only thing I will say is that when I was TTC after my mc...I used mucinex during ovulation and that's when we concieved my son.

try adding foods like broccoli, spinach, asparagus, bananas, papayas, brussel sprouts to your daily diet. These are all high is folic acid. Sometimes getting those vitamins is easier by adding it in your diet rather than remembering a pill. I HATE pills so I was horrible with that...but I love brussel sprouts and bananas. I've learned to add better healthy sides to my dinners

i was trying to figure out how much of these foods i needed to eat to be close to the dose recommended of folic acid, and i got lost trying. math is not my friend, especially as it pertains to volume.
how much would you say? cuz if its at every meal, then i do that.

Re: Avoiding certain foods/drinks
I would def do it at every meal but the good thing is that you can change it up.
for instance for breakfast or snack make a smoothie. I make this for my son but it def works for getting folic intake for TTC as well.
heaping handful of spinach, 1 banana, 1 cup of yogurt, handful of strawberries and blueberries (or raspberries) and a bit of milk...You've got 3-4 foods right there known to be good folic acid sources AND you don't even taste the spinach!
then try adding broccoli or a spinach salad with lunch
beans lentils brussel sprouts as a side dish for dinner
here's a helpful link with daily values. If you go by these daily values you won't need to even eat them in every meal / sitting BUT if you want you can space it out gradually as well.
foods high in folic acid
