help with crib mattress

I think I have one of these, I'd have to check. I know I bought one mattress at BRU and one at BBB. I think for babies it doesn't really matter in so much as babies are so small and light and the main criteria for infant mattresses is to be very firm.

So if you bought this as an infant mattress then at some point you are supposed to either add a mattress pad or buy a new softer mattress for toddlers or you buy one mattress that has a hard side for the first year and then you flip it over and there is a softer side for the toddler years. Which of course is twice the price of the single side mattress.

I still use my infant mattresses for my girls but in all honesty they never use their cribs. One sleeps with me and the other one almost always moves from her bed to the leather couch in her room. I have a tempurpedic bed and the one who sleeps with me really prefers that. To entice them to use their beds I bought a memory foam pad to put on top of their mattresses. They still prefer to sleep where they have always slept.

It really depends on what you want to do once the move past the infant phase.... assuming your crib is convertible into a youth bed? Also, are you able to return it? I thought mattresses are non-returnable due to bed bugs etc.
