moms that BF and pump
dd just started daycare and they give her 5 ounce bottles. while i am at work i pump around 5 ounces per each pump session which is great. today i am beyond exhausted (terrible night) and my supply is lacking because of it...at each 20 min pump session i am about 3 ounces. i know she gets more from me than the pump does but how would you handle the evening feedings? should i assume she is getting enough at the feeding? or breast feed her and then supplement with an ounce of formula? i dont want her to be on each breast for 20-30 minutes just to get enough nor do i want her to eat every 2 hours instead of 3 hours bc she isnt full enough. i know if i wasnt pumping i wouldnt have any question because i would just bf but now im so confused - and probably over tired and am over thinking this

Just feed her as normal - she will let you know if she's still hungry.

First off- great job on providing your daughter with your milk while you're at work. I too pump three times a day while at work. Some days I get more than others based on my energy level and how much my daughter ate the days prior. Some days she eats 8 or 9 oz and others it's 12. The most she's ever eaten is 15 oz. and I think that was during a growth spurt. I make sure to tell her caretakers to not force the bottle on her. Only give to her when she seems actually hungry. Give her what shes's interested in and then stop.
My advice would be to send what you pump. If you have 9 oz then thats what you send and your daughter will make up for it later when she's with you. Your supply sounds fine so I wouldn't supplement with formula. Here's why... if you give your baby 2 oz of formula thats 2 oz of breastmilk that your telling your body it doesn't need to make any more and your supply could decrease.
I know you're exhausted and I can completely empathize with you. It's definitely a huge adjustment and it does get easier. I promise! But just know that you're doing a great job and you're giving your daughter the best gift you can give!
