time management... what's your secret?
I do big cooking on Sunday for the week so when I get home we can just eat dinner. I do a lot of prep the night before. I make my lunch and breakfast and pack all of DDs stuff for daycare.
If you drive to work I would do my grocery shopping during my lunch break. This would free up time on weekends. I don't have that option now.

Re: time management... what's your secret?
Planning - like others mentioned shopping and meals
Prioritizing - this can mean "first things first" or letting things go. It can also mean saying "no" to things and not over-committing myself
Not sitting down at night until certain things are done
Online shopping
Delegating
Getting my kids to pitch in more

Re: time management... what's your secret?
I'm definitely a big planner!
I've always lived by a calendar & plan accordingly, including meals, presents, errands, etc.

Stay off FB and Pinterest
Joking aside, I like to write lists so if I have unplanned free time I cant look at it and see if there is something that I can get done.

Re: time management... what's your secret?
- Lists (I make lists for everything, keeps me organized) - Calendars
- Planning (meals, activities, events, etc)
- Routines for the kids
- To keep the house looking neat and organized I am always picking up as I go along throughout the day. I never leave a room without taking something with me that needs to be put back. It saves trips back and forth all day and it the house always looks pulled together. It also makes cleaning easier because I can just jump right into dusting, vacuuming, etc and get it done without first needing to straighten up and put things away.
- Everything in my house has a place which saves me time when putting away groceries, toys, or cleaning. I don't have to waste time searching around for things I need or looking for a place to store something, everything has a specific "home".
- I am always multi-tasking

Re: time management... what's your secret?
I don't have a secret as I am always struggling with this, but simplification & routines seem to help.
Routines are difficult for me, but I am working on it.
There are tons of blogs on simplification, but to generalize, really ask yourself if this is the best way to be spending your time.
It's ok, to have less stuff, go to fewer events etc, if it makes life easier.
Settling for good enough--perfectionism can make list impossible to complete.
I am working on this one too--setting reasonable time lists for things, and then moving on.

These are my major secrets but I wish I could get better than I already am!

Re: time management... what's your secret?
I have a 2 year old and I lay out his outfits for the week ever Sunday. I keep one of his drawers empty and stack all the piles. And in this crazy weather each pile contains:
- 1 pair of shorts - 1 short sleeve shirt - 1 pair of pants - 1 onesie undershirt - 1 pair of socks
Each night I grab a pile so we are ready to go each morning. By planning 5-6 outfits all at once it cuts down on time each night and prevents odd pairs when it gets close to laundry day. This is so efficient I'm starting to think about doing this for myself. It's one less thing to think about each weekday night.
I do something similar with lunches but lots of PP mentioned food already.

Re: time management... what's your secret?
I too work F/T, am doing some P/T work for my old job, and also have a child.
I am a major routine person.
I also believe the day is wasted if I am not up super early, even on my days off.
I accomplish so much first thing in the morning, and frequently look at the clock when my big tasks are completed, and it's barely 9AM.
I also do laundry, clean and organize daily so I am not overwhelmed on my weekends with this stuff.
I leave DS with DH when it's time to go to the store, so I can get in and out a lot more quickly.
Also just starting something is key for me.
I have several reports I need to write for my P/T job, and I've procrastinated getting started. I took out a couple of hours earlier tonight and while I am not done, I feel like by just starting, got a lot out of the way.

After work? I try to do this, but I m usually so beat after dinner, I don't get much done. And I don't even have a kid to tend to!
DH is better about that & will go do grocery shopping & laundry before I get home.

Re: time management... what's your secret?
I outsource a lot of housework. I have a very well organized calendar. My calendar is synced with DH's calendar.
I am also a chronic list maker. I make lists of places I want to go. I make to do lists for the day, for the week, for the month, quarterly goals, annual goals, etc. I also make to do lists for DH and for people who work under me. Sometimes I think my entire life is a to do list.

Re: time management... what's your secret?
I write it down. I make lists. That way I know I cant forget anything.
Whjen Im working and someone inturrupts me. I will write down what Im working on, and I will write the new request. That way I ALWAYS know what work has to be done so I wont forget. And by looking at it I know how much time each thing takes.
At home I have a calandar and I write ALL apointments on it. Even when people are visiting.

time management... what's your secret?
Lists and schedules
And keeping things as organized as possible-but I'm also pretty anal
I keep my house 99% clean 99% of the time, and on the weekends I do more of a deep clean-I also do a deep, deep clean of the entire house room by room twice a year
I carry a physical planner with to do lists, etc. with me at all times

My DH is home about 2 hours before me, so he usually has dinner ready to go a few minutes after I get it in. I'm super thankful for that, but then we sit & I'm useless after that!
Today I actually bleached the caulking on t he bathtub before I took a shower--it just took about 3 minutes--I have to squeeze in those minutes where I can.
