CIO at 9m old?
Hi Ladies,
DD refuses to sttn (unless in bed with us) and gets up 3-5x a night. she throws her paci out and i have to nurse her back to sleep. I am thinking to try CIO but am afraid because she stands up in her crib and gets hysterical. Anyone have any advice? Do i just lay her back down and proceed with progressive cio method?

That's exactly what I would do. Prepare yourself for a couple of hellacious nights.
You will probably get ZERO sleep for two nights, especially if she can stand and yell.
Do you work?

CIO at 9m old?
I did CIO with DS 2 at 10 months (and I had to do it again recently after we returned from vacation).
The first time - I put him in drowsy but awake and he yelled for about 15 minutes and I didn't hear from him again until the morning. The second time - he yelled for about 45 minutes but also STTN after that.
He also stood and got hysterical but, I felt that going back in there would make things worse so I stayed out. It's hard but, worth it (and I got sleep those nights).

CIO at 9m old?
I wouldn't even lay my DS down.
We did CIO much earlier but have had to do it here and there when he has a change. I don;t even go in anymore. I jsut let him cry. he stands at the edge of his crib and cries and then finally will lay down.

Re: CIO at 9m old?
I think it's a little dramatic to say that you won't get any sleep for several nights.
We did CIO with my DD at 6 months. She woke up at 4 am and cried for almost 2 hours the first night. The second night, she woke up at 4 am and cried for 15 minutes. The third night, she woke up at 4 am and cried for 5 minutes. That was over a year ago and she's been STTN since.

Re: CIO at 9m old?
We did it at 9 months and yes I would go in, shush her and lay her down if she was standing. I did the progressively longer time intervals and usaully by the 15 minute strectch she would pass out. She would just lay herself down and go to sleep. GL!!
Oh it took 2 nights so it wasn't as bad as I imagined. Worse for me than her I am sure.

I'd rather over-prepare someone...

Re: CIO at 9m old?
We did progressive CIO at 7 months. It took abut 4 days. We just put him in the crib awake, and during the times we went in to check on him, we gave him an occasion pat on the back, but it was mostly reassurance words. We stayed in the room, no more than 5 secs.

Thanks. I don't work, so zero sleep it is :)
