help planning menu for dd's birthday party

My DH wants to either BBQ or order in pizzas. I want to do neither, LOL. Her party is early in september and now that we are well into the summer, I'm sick of both BBQ and pizza. But, I'm not sure what I want to serve. Looking for any ideas or suggestions. I'll need some kid friendly items but I think that is the easy part. TAI!!

What about ordering Heros and salads? You could order chicken fingers and French fries for the kids. If you want to make something then baked ziti and a tray of sausage and peppers is always a crowd pleaser and easy to make.

You can't go wrong wtih hero's, salads, and then maybe a tray or two of hot food (we usually do some type of chicken and eggplant parm)

What about a taco bar! Rice, chips, salsa, etc...

I ordered a couple of trays of food from our favorite Italian restaurant and then 2 3-foot heros and a tray of chicken fingers. This was her 1st b-day so we had a lot of people and there was very little left over. I am a fan of catering, especially for a party at home.
