I pretty much emulsified Ground Beef or Chicken with water in the food processor.. and then blended it with sweet potato and a veggie to make it smooth.

I baked some chicken thighs and then blended with water and mixed it with her veggies. DD wasn't really a fan but at 16 months it's still really hard to get her to eat meat. She actually did better with the earth's best jars than any of the meat I tried to make for her so I gave her those sometimes.

I was no a fan of pureeing meats either. The first meat DS had was turkey chopmeat that I browned and spoon fed with some veggies. for chicken; I slow cooked it for 6 hours in a little water (seasoned with a dash of garlic) an just cut it up small enough for him to pick up with his hand. I also spoon feed it mixed in with veggies. It's so tender from the slow cooker it mixes well with the veggies I don't have to puree it and he can easily swallow it.

Other than purees, the first things I let DD try were meatloaf and roasted or poached chicken thighs. The thighs and legs are less dry than the white meat chicken so I always gave DD dark meat at first. Either poached if it was boneless or baked if it was bone in, skin on.

chicken soup! all the veggies were so soft and the chicken was fork tender which i then just cut up into little pieces.

Re: if you make your own baby food, how did you start meats?
I made a beef stew in the oven. I cooked beef, potato, carrot, zucchini in the oven for about 2 hours in water. (sometimes added tomato and other veggies). I then pureed them with the liquid. It worked out great for DS. I did the same with chicken (obviously didn't cook for as long). chicken has a much drier texture, so I made sure I used more potato and a lot more of the cooking liquid.

We just give DD whatever we eat, so if we broil a chicken breast or grill a steak/pork chop, we just cut off bite sized pieces for her. We also use our slow cooker a lot and the meats are the perfect consistency for DD
