Did your dc get to meet their teacher before the first day of school? We can't walk the kids to the class so I feel bad he is walking into a strangers classroom. They don't get to meet the teacher prior either.

My daughter didn't get to meet her teacher- but we did get to visit her classroom and happened to run into the assistant, who was very nice. Can you take him to the school so that he can at least see his room? When we visited my daughter's room last year I was able to show her where her seat, supply basket and cubby were, and we found her name on the job chart. Seeing all those things with her name helped her feel welcome. I wish we could've met the teacher but this was the next best thing and it helped allay some of her anxiety.

No, ours do not get to meet and we can't walk them there either. I guess it's just another milestone that they and we have to deal with.

Yes, next Wedenesday we go in and drop off supplies, walk around school, visit classroom and meet teacher.

Yes today actually. The school arranged an ice cream social & my DD got to meet her teachers and fellow students.it was great.

That is great - I wish our school did something like that. We get to drop off supplies tomorrow but no teacher will be there :(

Today was first day of school and yesterday they got to meet the teacher and play on the playground with th kids. It helped tremendously. She pretty much jumped on the bus and never looked back!

Yeah our city does this.. twice. First its called Kinder Round up where they can meet all the teachers, then specifically it is Meet the Teacher at least one week prior to school. All districts all schools.
We can't drop her off in her class .. BUT they let you on the first day. I'm having issues with her because normal drop off is in the cafeteria now and she says its too loud and too many kids. She's right. But she'll just have to get used to it..
now if only she'd stop crying

No and I'm annoyed about it. I do not understand why we wouldn't get to meet the teacher together the first time. I have to send my 4 yo to a complete stranger next week,

Yes, last year DS got to meet her 2 days before. It was more because they felt the supplies were too heavy for the kids to carry but whatever... I was happy.

I remember being so annoyed by this last year. They have Kindergarten round up, but the teachers don't attend. They don't attend the classroom visiting day for the other grades either.
Fortunately on the first day, all of the kids had to meet their teachers in the cafeteria, and I was able to walk her down and wait until the teacher came down.

We have an orientation where the kids meet all the teacher and visit the classroom and take a short ride on the bus the spring before kindergarten. In the summer they have a kindergarten playdate where they get their class assignments and the teachers are there to meet the kids. The teachers also send a welcome letter home with their contact info so if you wanted to meet them again you can contact them directly and set up a time while they are setting up their classrooms. On the first day parents are not allowed in the building but the teachers are outside waiting for the kids to bring them to the classroom together.

It seems like everyone I know had a teacher meet and greet in their classrooms- I can't understand how my district only has a K orientation in Apriil. Very unproductive and not really helpful in my opinion. (We are in HHH.)

We didn't have s meet the teacher and when we dropped off the supplies classrooms were locked. We had orientation back in March. It isn't fair to the little ones
