Runners who also breastfeed
I used to be an avid runner & I had wanted to resume that after giving birth but it seems like running & breastfeeding don't go together for me. Unless I've just pumped, my boobs feel so heavy & uncomfortable... Also I need to wear a tight bra to keep my boobs from bouncing when I run, but tight bras hurt way too much these days!
I don't see how it's possible to be a runner who breastfeeds?! Has anyone done it? Any tips?? Do I have to wait until I stop bf-ing (hoping to do it for a year)?

Re: Runners who also breastfeed
I did it for about 9 months ( I wasn't cleared for about 10 weeks, ugh) It's not easy or convenient. I had to either nurse or pump before running everytime. I wore 2 sports bras and sometimes a regular bra underneath. I would usually pump and then throw everything in the fridge, parts an all, and the clean it up later to save time. It did get more comfortable as time went on. I also didn't beat myself up for skipping a day bc I didn't feel like doing the hour of prep!

Runners who also breastfeed
I did it for a year. As the previous poster said I pumped right before I ran. It sometimes got uncomfortable but a good supportive bra really helps. Just nothing too tight because it makes it worse. I also needed to wear breast pads so I didn't leak. It definitely got easier over time.

Runners who also breastfeed
As previous poster said it does get easier as baby gets older. I try to nurse baby before a run and if I run a race will nurse and pump just to be sure since races are just a longer (time wise) experience. But it definitely gets easier as baby gets older, eats solids etc. Just takes some time to find your new rhythm. HTH!

Totally possible! You have to nurse right before running, otherwise it is too painful.
Here is the bra I use: moving comfort It is really super supportive, and the straps are movable, so you can nurse in it when you get back.

Thanks for the tips & ideas! I will give it a shot soon. Not getting my hopes up but will do my best! I think the key for me will be to do it right after pumping.

Re: Runners who also breastfeed
I have been running and BFing for over a year. In the very beginning, I only ran right after I BFed. I wear a Moving COmfort bra that is super tight though.
