new and nervous!

hey everyone! I am new to the site. I have been ttc for almost 2 years. Hubby has a low sperm count and poor motility.. we just started seeing an RE last cycle. I had an appointment today and was just started clomid for my second iui. ( did first iui last month with only a trigger shot and resulted in bfn) It is my first time taking it and I am not quite sure what to expect. If anyone can share their experiences with the medication that would be great :)

Re: new and nervous!

Hi and Welcome!

For me, the side effects of Clomid were Hot Flashes (big time hot flashes) and extreme Bitchiness lol

Then around Ovulation I'd be more crampy then usual. That's because there were more follicles then the usual 1.

It's not that bad. Sad to say, I started getting used to it. Hopefully you don't have to! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Good luck to you

P.S. Take it at night. Sleep through the initial Side Effects

I was extremely tired and bitchy while on Clomid. Had one hot flash I can remember, but otherwise, no other symptoms. Sending you tons of goodluck that this cycle is it for you!!!

Hi!! I was on 50 mg of clomid and had no side effects, but when they moved it up to 100mg I got a little nauseous when I took the pills. I second the idea of taking it at night! Everyone's different so hopefully you have no side effects and this cycle is your last one! Good luck!

Welcome and good luck!! Hopefully your stay here won't be too long!! I didn't really find clomid too bad.... like the pp said, hot flashes and a little moodiness but I can't always blame that on medication!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: new and nervous!

Hi welcome!! First off you found the right place to be the ladies on this board are absolutely amazing. I'm a newbie myself and they've been such a great support and wealth of knowledge! I took my first cycle of clomid last month and my only side effect while on it was the severeeee hot flashes. I seriously woke up a couple nights and just needed to strip off my clothes off it was horrible. But besides that I didn't feel anything else not even the moodiness if anything I was just a little more emotional than usual. Good luck to you!!

I know exactly how u feel and it's a horrible feeling. I too feel like everyone right now is pregnant it's crazy I never knew so many pregnant people at one time. It makes me lose hope for myself sometimes. But we are all going through the samething here. Its nice to see that we're really not the only ones struggling with this and that there are people that understand exactly what we're going through. Our time will come we just have to take a different road to get their unfortunately.

I know it sounds funny, and I don't know if you have insurance that will pay for it, but I think doing a few IUIs before moving onto an IVF can sort of help the nerves... Like easing into it! I have the same thing going on with my husband and I did 6 IUIs out of pocket until the doc told me no way, no more, and I think it helped me be ready to move onto the next step...got used to timing, counting, taking clomid, triggering, etc. But I am a big wimp so maybe you don't need to do baby steps like me! Hopefully, this is your cycle and it doesn't matter anyways! Good luck!

I am very fortunate that our insurance I believe covers unlimited iuis I am just paying out of pocket for the medications. As for ivf I have to look further into how much we are responsible for paying. I def hear what you are saying though... It gets you in the routine of everything by doing a few rounds! Good luck to you too!! Hopefully we will both have bfp soon :)
