2nd opinions- Who to see? What to ask?
So most of you know I worked with my RE for the entire 2013. 6 IUIs, 2 IVFs, and 1 FET. BFNs and 2 chemicals. I really like my RE but clearly its not working there. I have 1 last IVF covered at 75% (and 2 FETs if we have any to freeze). We are unexplained and after lots of tests still have no answers as to why this isn't working. My RE suspects embryo quality. He gave me such high odds of IVF working so this is all very upsetting that 3 transfers haven't worked.
We NEED to get it right this last time. I have an appointment with Dr. T at SIRM February 7th. SIRM is not convenient for me at all but if I like what they have to say I'll find a way to make it work.
Should I be making more than 1 second opinion consult? If so any recommendations of someone who thinks outside of the box and works well with unexplained people (I have GHI)? Any important questions I should be asking at my second opinion? Any advice welcomed. I don't wanna just jump back into all of this without a solid plan in place.
Thanks ladies-

I think Dr. T is the one but I am biased! Def do the immune testing and see what comes back. My second choice was RMA, but you said they don't take your insurance?

Agreed about Dr.T
I went for second opinions and also liked Dr.Sauer at Columbia. I believe they took my ghi insurance at the time too.

I would consider making another consult with maybe columbia or nyu to see what they have to say as well. It doesnt hurt to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion espciually if this is your last IVF cycle with insurance. I was about to leave my RE and go to SIRM if my last FET didnt work because I knew I didnt want to waste my insurance.

2nd opinions- Who to see? What to ask?
Thanks ladies. I am excited but also nervous to see Dr. T at SIRM. I hope he can figure out what to do with me. Definitely hope hes the ONE to give me my miracle. My current (soon to be former) RE has a new plan but I don't feel right using him after a full year of unsuccessful treatments. Hopefully a new RE and a new lab will do the trick. I wish there was someone else in LI who took GHI who thought outside of the box. Also I would of definitely consulted with RMA if they took GHI. I really don't think its worth it for me to go to the other practices in LI.
AS for Braverman, is anyone using him who has GHI? If so can you FM the costs? I was a little turned off when I called and they said he charges $900 for a consult and then they couldn't tell me how much I would pay for things with GHI. Any experiences with him? He is way closer to where I live but I'm not so sure about him. I know he doesn't do the actual IVF procedures and I'm used to my RE doing everything. Paying so much money for a consult is turning me off- even with insurance I think it may be 500.
Anyone go to Palter? Thoughts?
Anyone else in LI worth seeing for my issue?
Thanks ladies. I might be over analyzing but this may be my last chance and we still have no idea what the issue is.

Re: 2nd opinions- Who to see? What to ask?
I saw Palter a few years ago and through the year I was with him we did 2 iuis, 1 ivf and 2 fets which resulted in chemicals. He is a very bright doctor and know his stuff /percentages, etc. BUT I do not think he thinks outside of the box. You get very personalized attention and only see him BUT since it is a small practice he doesnt get enough opportunities to see women with various issues. Thats of course is my opinion and I know he has gotten many women pregnant.

Thank you for the info. I heard the same thing about him from someone else not seeing a variety of patients with different issues. I think he would be too close to my current RE. I too had chemicals and want to figure out something to make them stick. Did you go to another practice after working with him?
