Low Progesterone/Endometrin

Had my progesterone blood work this AM -- I had IUI#1 on Friday. Just got the call from LIIVF. Progesterone lower than they would like -- 7.63. As a newbie, I have a few questions and would appreciate any feedback.

1) What is the normal range for progesterone that the doctors are looking for?

2) Does my low level mean there is no chance of pregnancy for this cycle?

3) I am going to have to use Endometrin suppositories. What exactly is the purpose of this? Does boosting my progesterone levels increase my chances of getting pregnant this cycle? I feel like the answer to that is no because at this point the sperm either got to the egg or it didn't. Is it supposed to help you for the next cycle?

Sorry for so many questions -- I am confused (and disappointed my numbers are low) Thanks!

Re: Low Progesterone/Endometrin

Your progesterone levels tell your RE if you ovulated. Progesterone is also the hormone that sustains an early pregnancy. It is possible to have a low progesterone and still get pregnant.

A level over 5 means you ovulated. Most REs like the levels to be >10-15+. My RE uses 6 or 7 i think.

Endometrin is a progesterone supplement used vaginally to get the progesterone directly to your uterus where it's needed the most. It doesn't effect the blood levels much more than a point or 2 bc it's not in the blood stream. It is to help you with this cycle. Typically implantation starts around 7dpo. I have read many posts about ladies having a low postovulation progesterone level, being put on supplements, and getting a bfp. You're not out yet.

"One of progesterone's most important functions is to cause the endometrium to secrete special proteins during the second half of the menstrual cycle, preparing it to receive and nourish an implanted fertilized egg."

You are 5dpiui then? My understanding is that progesterone peaks around 7dpo and that they generally like to see at least a 10.

I know the vaginal supps go straight to the uterus and arent fully reflected in blood the way PIO is, but I didnt realize it had such a little impact. I have been on endometrin a few times and always assumed that the progesterone levels were inflated because of the supps.
