How do you wash/disinfect your wood cutting board?
I use antibacterial dish soap but is there another way? I know they aren't supposed to get really wet.

I think you're fine with antibacterial soap. The wood is supposed to resist germs more than plastic which is why the pros use them over plastic. I think I've heard of something like lemon juice and course salt to make a scrub. Maybe google that? There's a brand called epicurean that makes awesome cutting boards that are thin wood and are dishwasher safe. I have one and it's definitely my favorite. BBB carries them.

I spray it with bleach and run it through the dishwasher.

For the WOOD cutting boards??? wood isn't supposed to go into the dishwasher - it warps which opens it up to bacteria.

I don't disinfect my wooden boards. They are used only for veggies, fruit and bread. Quick run under water and then dried.
I use plastic for meats, they get washed with hot water and dish soap.

Thanks everyone. I'm definitely interested in the one you mentioned especially.

Been doing it for years. Its a thick bamboo, and it looks brand new. No damage at all.

This - I only put raw meat on plastic ones that can be sanitized in the dishwasher.
I would only use wood for bread, fruit, cheese, veggies and that type of thing.

Re: How do you wash/disinfect your wood cutting board?
I use plastic for almost all my cutting, I use the wood one I have for cutting bread.
But we got a new countertop and I like the idea of keeping the cutting board out all the time to rest things on instead of directly on the new countertop (which I call my baby - I love it so much) and it just gets random stuff on it and I wanted to know the best way to clean it.
I have had this board since 2005 (my bridal shower) and it hasn't been used in those 9 years as much as I use it now. But Im using it more as a trivet than a cutting board.

Ditto. I am too freaked out by raw meat to put it on anything I can't sanitize

I pour white vinegar on it and let it sit, then wash with soap and water.
