straw sippy
Did your LO get the concept quickly? I try giving DS and he keeps lift it like a bottle or regular sippy. He also dribbles when he drinks out of a regular sippy (water) cause he takes in so much! We haven't pushed the sippy as much as we should have i guess.

I started with ds and dd at 5.5/6 months and by 8 months they got it. I gave it to them after their meals

We use the nuby ones at 10 months and she got it within 2 sips. Her counterparts at daycare still don't get it. It varies by child.

we started with a playtex brand... my sister went to Hawaii and brought one home for her with her name on it. i will check and see if there is a brand on it when i get home.

We started with the Playtex brand too.
We stopped bottles at age 1 and had never tried straw cups before that. We also never used sippy cups (on advice from the ped.) We went straight to the cups with straws as soon as he started whole milk. Although it was hard for a few days, he did pick it up rather quickly. There was no other choice.
With DS2 I am going to start introducing it early so he has a clue.

Re: straw sippy
Have you tried feeding him the pouch food? DS couldnt get the hang of anything but a bottle until this. He loves to eat so when he could hold a pouch and eat he was thrilled. It took him to suck to get the full pouch. I figured id try the straw again and it worked. I dont think he does it for the water persay but he def gets the liquid. I got two from target. One has a dog that says i woof you. He cant use that one because the straw is crazy long and he gags on it. The other one is neon orange and has an owl head. This one he uses. I will say i tried it and you have to really suck to get it but he manages just fine.
I promise not to be too preachy but sippy cups are kinda glorified bottles and can have some adverse affects if used too long into life. But 10 people will have 8 different opinions

In the beginning she was lifting it up to try to drink out of it and we kept pushing it down. She eventually got it.

Re: straw sippy
We skipped over sippy altogether. We introduced straw cup at 6 mos.. And she got it around 9 mos.
