Mean Girls

Just a vent but I really dislike young girls. My poor DD just want to play on the playground with them and they were purposely telling her to go the wrong direction and then hide from her. These kids are only 7/8 and I know it's going to get substantially harder as she gets older. Chat Icon

This happened last summer at the playground to DS. He's a social butterfly and craves someone to be his friend, it hurt my heart.

These were boys btw so I think sex has nothing to do with it.

This has happened to DS too...."hide from the monster baby...monster baby....monster baby..." All my DS wants is to play and have friendsChat Icon

But I will say, while boys can be mean, girls are by far worse....hugs to your daughterChat Icon

Mean Girls

It just really irks me because these aren't random kids...they are kids from her GenEd class. I'm not expecting them to invite her over for a sleepover or anything but they can't let her play on the swing set with them. She went over to one girl and said, hi emma, hi emma emma...hello...are you sick why aren't you answering me, did you lose you voice, it's me xxx from your class, can you say hello...and the little biotch still ignored her and then told her friends to run across the street because they know DD won't go across without me. Sometimes I just want to put her in a bubble. This is going to be a long spring/summer. Thanks for the vent : ).

Re: Mean Girls

It's so hard.

I also know it gets worse as they get older because kids then become followers.

I remember being afraid of being friends with certain kids (and not special needs either) because of what other people would think.

It's sad.

Re: Mean Girls

Some kids could be so nasty Chat Icon I really have to hold back sometimes when I constantly witness this almost every week when I bring my DS to karate. There are always 3 young girls in the waiting area about the age of 4 maybe 5. Two girls are always playing with each other (their moms are friends) and they constantly ignore the other girl who would love to play with them :( and when they do say things to that girl they are put downs. I'm constantly telling my kids to stand up to this behavior if it happens and not to follow or initiate this kind of behavior.

Being that these are kids in her class can you have a talk with the teacher? I just hope this doesnt go on during their recess and maybe they can have a discussion about politeness?? Also not sure if you know any of the moms but if they were one of my kids I would do want to know so I could correct that negative behavior.

. See, while I thought the same thing, when is it the cut-off where you are not being "that mom" with your child, reporting every issue? I know that's probably not worded correctly, but just the other day there was a thread on one of the parenting boards where everyone talked about how they teach their kids that not everyone is their friend, not everyone is going to get along, you should still try to be polite to everyone, but some kids just aren't like this.......and honestly, I think this is more realistic, whether or not your child has special needs. It's a tough issue, that's for sure.

Re: Mean Girls

I hear you....we moved into a development with lots of kids that all play outside. Matt is friends with most of them, and Chris wants to play. One kid in particular I dislike. From the first day we moved in he has been so mean to Chris. Sometimes Chris can be annoying, but I am getting fed up with some of the kids being mean to him...I can go on and on. It hurts a lotChat Icon
I don't get why kids that young are so mean

Mean Girls

This thread breaks my heart. I am so sorry, I hope to God my son or nieces never acts this way. And if he does, I hope I am informed of it or there to witness it so I can knock some sense into him.

Kids can be so vicious. My DS is in track and some of the things these kids say are so nasty. And the parents are sitting right there not saying a word. I would be appalled if I heard my child say these mean things. Sometimes, I feel like I am the only parent telling my child, "Keep your hands to yourself" or "Don't Say that".

My SS who had some behavioral and social issues in addition to ADHD,was getting bullied and it was horrible when he was going through that. Then it was even worse when we found out at a later point he was being the bully. We were mortified.

This. I hate mean kids. I really do. And they learn it from mean adults.
