What is an appropriate gift for an engagement party? The engagement party is at a restaurant.

We got between $75-$150 for our party when we had ours. We did a simple bbq at my house. I have given anywhere in that range. Depends on how close I was to the person. I think anything between $50-150 is appropriate.

This. Depends on how close you are with them.

I'm a BM and I made my friend a big personalized basket with tons of cute things from Etsy and she loved it.

We usually give $100 depending on our finances at the time. I don't like to get gifts off the registry for an engagement party because I feel like that's more appropriate for a bridal shower.

we got gifts ranging from off our registry to gift cards of $25-100 or checks of same range. Our party was at home so I think that is why there was a wide range of gift amounts. I was surprised by the ones that were $100!

Re: Engagement Party

$100 would be the norm for me if I were just a guest and not in the bridal party.
If I'm in the wedding, I'd do a bit more.

The last E-party I attended was for my BIL and his now wife. I was a BM and I purchased alcohol (for a cocktail I offered to make), made a guestbook frame and helped with decorations and favors so instead of cash, I made them a basket with personalized toasting flutes, a bottle of champagne and candles.

We give $150 for engagement party. I don't buy gifts from the registry for the engagement party, that's for the shower IMO and most people need the money to help pay for the wedding, home, or honeymoon. I rather do that.
