Love the cordless Dyson. I'm a neat nut and always vacuuming. I LOVE not having to plug it in. I have it hanging in the closet to charge each time. We have mostly hardwood floors and tile in the house with some area rugs and carpet in ones of the boy's rooms. Also have carpet in the basement. Works great on everything.

I have the Dyson canister vaccuum and I absolutely LOVE it. It gets under everything and cleans both hardwood and carpet. Makes doing the couches a breeze, lightweight, different detachments for all sorts of spaces. It's the best vaccuum I've ever owned.

We have a Dyson Animal as well as a Dyson D44 handheld and they're awesome on both hardwood and carpeting.
Pricy, but worth it.
