I heard about the freezer too. I don't wash as often as my other articles of clothing but def far more than once a year.

Re: Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
I have a student that is very into fashion, and has worked with top designers. He told me to keep my "investment denim" rolled loosely in a bag in the freezer instead of washing and folding/hanging it. Freezing kills germs just as effectively (if not more so) than washing, without affecting the material.
I didn't have the heart to tell him my favorite pair of jeans came from Gap outlet lol.

Re: Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
Yea, I don't "invest" in denim, so it's not really a problem! I wash my Eddie Bauer jeans about once a week in the colder weather. I wear one or two pairs Fri-Sun.
I don't wear them that often in the warmer months.
I have had them about 2 years & they are fine--I only bought new ones b/c I lost weight.

No investment denim here. One or two wears and in the wash they go.

Re: Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
I try to avoid washing them as much as I can because they do fade and get ruined after awhile, but my thing is, yeah the freezer may kill germs, but it's not the germs I am worried about- I'm far from a germophobe. Sometimes jeans just get and look DIRTY. Freezing them won't remove the dingy dirty look.

Re: Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
I don't have that kind of room in my freezers.
What constitutes as investment denim?
I tend to buy premium brands and I don't wash them after every wearing, but they bag out on me too much if I don't wash them after a few wearings. Plus with 4 little ones, I'm bound to get something on them and freezing them won't help that.

Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
I wash my jeans. I have a three month old, a 70 pound dog and two birds fading is the least of my worries. I wash as needed but I only dry them for 10 minutes or so to prevent shrinking. Freezing will not remove dirt and stains.

Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
I only rarely wash my jeans b/c I hate how much of a fat ass I feel like when I put on jeans straight from the dryer.

Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
I wash my jeans after every few wearings. They get too stretched out not to.
My DH has one pair of jeans that he has never washed. He specifically bought these for this exact reason. They are suppose to "age" aka get fading and creasing based on your wear. He spot cleans them as necessary.

Re: Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
This is just nonsense and disgusting. I buy "good" jeans and I wash them every 2-3 wearings, maybe more depending on what it did. If I went into Manhattan, for example, they are getting washed, I don't care if there isn't a spot on them. I just feel like I'm covered in a layer of grime when I come home from the city.
I never have washing ruin my jeans. I wash them inside out and some of them I don't put in the dryer. I don't even see the reason for not washing them. Just seems like a really dirty and pointless thing to do.
eta- I'm also not sure who came up with this line of BS about the freezer "killing germs". Yes, some maybe, but definitely not all. There are germs that live in Antarctica.

Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
I wash my jeans usually every three/four wears unless they get really dirty. I just hate waiting for them to air-dry so I do it as little as possible.

Yes, exactly gross. And all my jeans look good. I may have to replace my black ones but that's about it.

Re: Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
When I was a teen and getting into fashion I thought that you weren't supposed to wash your jeans. So I never did. Fast forward to when I got into my mid twenties and I thought about how grimy and germy they must be!
I now wash them every 4 or so wearings, or whenever they get stretched out and look bad. I never put them in the dryer, I always hang them.

Re: Washing Jeans? Agree/disagree
Read the article... big fat disagree... not washing your jeans has become a craze? Nobody wants to smell your crotch rot from the next room. The things people are willing to admit on the internet What's next? Not washing underwear so the elastic doesn't break down? Things wear out, you replace them. You don't walk around smelling homeless.

Yeah, I read that article a few weeks ago. My problem is my dogs getting dirt and drool on them, so I have to wash them.

I get 3 wearings from my jeans. I buy my jeans from Old Navy and Kohls... no need to "save" them from wear and tear or fading
