Day Care

Hi I am 4 month pregnant.

Currently I am living in Astoria and considering to move to Nassau County LI (Merrick, Seaford, East Medlow, Wantagh, Hicksville, Bethpage etc.)

Astoria infant(new born-3 years) range is $1800-2200/month.

I hope that the daycare cost for infant is cheaper in LI.

How much is the daycare cost in Nassau County?

I found old thread regarding daycare cost but it is ancient..(from 2009)
http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic-425473-1.html

Please Do Not say "contact to the day care center" or "Do the tour". I just want to get the sense of the cost.

Please advise

Day Care

General cost in those areas is cheaper, but it definitely depends on the center.

I feel like the average cost of daycare for 5 days in should be around 1200-1400 a month.. Some are cheaper , some are more expensive.. it depends what your looking for!

Thank you both of you.

If the cost is around $1200-1400 range, much cheaper than Astoria.
I don't expect that much, if they do feed formula and don't kill my baby its enough.

I visted about 7 day care centers and they were all about $1300 a month for 5 days a week full time infant care.

Oh you went to 7 day care recently? Wow, that is helpful. Full time means, 8am-6pm? How was the waiting situation?

Full time usually meant 8-6, but each one had their own little caveats, but typically yes 8-6.....

I am looking for care starting around May 1, and one place already had a wait list when I went back in July......the others said by September I should get on a wait list or alert them that I will need care, because they do fill up.....

I pay about $1000 a month for 3 days a week- and my DD is 4 years old. Infants are more. So you are about right on with that estimate..

I'll be paying approximately 1500 for 5 days and early drop off for an infant in Merrick. FYI- most people I know close to 2000 - 2200 for a full time babysitter at home. Make sure you check out day cares early, though. I put down a deposit back in March for my son to start in September- I was about 25 weeks pregnant at the time!

Day Care

My son starts in a week at a daycare in Bethpage. He is 3 months old, it is $325/week, hours can be 6 AM to 6 PM (he won't be there that long). You don't have to pay for a week of vacation if you give at least two weeks notice.

What time do you drop off your baby?
7am?

Actually I have to think about dropping off earlier as it will take about an hour to go to office and 8 am is maybe too late...

@Nic1229...

Where in suffolk is this daycare? Do you recommend them? I'm trying to find a reliable provider in suffolk. I live in the Islip area.

Thanks.

a few girls on here use Kiddie Academy in Bethpage and I use the Kiddie Academy in Farmingdale. Not sure the poster uses KA but def put it on your list cause people always talk highly of it.

Re: Day Care

I looked at about 10 places in Nassau County (this was last spring) and most were $340 - $400 per week. We choose a center that is about $1550 per month and covers 10 hours per day. At 18 months it drops to about $1450 per month. The in-home day cares were a little less expensive - but we choose one of the larger centers.
