questions about adoption
If someone does not mind giving me some info on cost for an adoption to take place in this country, NY since I live in NY
I have read on the site it can take up to two years to complete the process
I just started thinking about this recently and still need to research the process but have some questions.
During the entire process what is the cost to the adoptee, does the adoptee pay for the mothers care ?

HI! i've been doing a lot of research myself....unfortunately there is no set answer on "how much" adoption will cost.
There are a variety of factors......first you need to decide if you want to do a private adoption or use an agency.......
Some agencies have a flat fee and that includes charges for the mothers care and living expenses, some don't, sometimes using a lawyer yourself and going the private route can cost less, sometimes can cost more.
Regarding time frame, you can potentially be matched with a birth mother just months after your home study or a year later, it really all depends.

babyfever, thank you for your input- I had similar questions. While Westchester is a trip for us to make, if you (or anyone else) know of more local events (ie Long Island/ Queens) I'd really appreciate if you could pass the info along. I've been searching with no avail.
(PS Longtime LIF-er going undercover as not to share our new decision yet with a lot of people we know in real life)
