Whooping Cough Vaccine
Hi Ladies,
I am currently in my third trimester and I would like to get the whooping cough vaccine. My OB doesn't administer the shot and said I could get it at the hospital after I give birth. If worse comes to worse that is what I will do but I would prefer to get it before I give birth. I called my primary Doctor and the receptionist told me they don't have that shot. Does anyone have any recommendations for a doctor that will administer the shot? I had planned on changing my primary doctor anyway. I live in Bellmore and would like a doctor that isn't too far.

DH got it at CVS. Ask for the DTAP booster.

I called the CVS by me and they said they don't administer it. Do you know which CVS he went to?

DH and I are getting it in the hospital after delivery.
Mil and my mom and dad got it from their primary care dr.

We live in MD, but my mother got it at the CVS in Bellport. You need to go to one that has a Minute Clinic.

I got mine last year when my niece was being born but my SIL got it after she gave birth in the hospital.
Your primary should be able to order the vaccine for you.

Thanks ladies I'll look into this.
My primary won't order it they are telling me I need to go to an infectious disease specialist...which at 8 months pregnant is not really the place I want to go. Oh well if I have to I'll just get it at the hospital after I give birth.

Is it required to get this vaccine now when you have baby? Is it supposed to be for everyone in the family who comes into contact with baby? My friend told me about this and I'm curious when we should all be vaccinated if need be

It's not required but highly recommended. My family got it when I was in the 3rd trimester.
