First time and scared to death..

We just found out we are excepting our first child. I’m 4 weeks 5 days. I’m scared to death, I love my husband and feel like I’m dis appointing him because he so happy and I’m just miserable.
We were not trying at all, it was an accident and I’m not sure if I can go through with it..
Has anyone else felt this way? Will it pass?

Re: First time and scared to death..

I was like you. SCARED TO DEATH.
I cried and sobbed when the test came up pregnant.
Not the moment that my DH had been dreaming of.
But I had severe medical phobias, severe anxiety and the thought of what my body was going to go through, culminating in child birth scared me to the point of depression.
Not to mention the thought of the lifestyle change, my career, how it was all going to work out, etc
It was a rough few weeks.
But slowly, I began to get used to being pregnant and by a few months in, actually be excited about it.
It took time, but by the end I was ok and happy about it.
And now that DD is here, I cannot imagine life without her.
You will be ok- I promise.
But I do understand what you are going through- and it's hard because most women are over the moon to be pregnant.
So you feel very alone- I know.
FM if you ever want to talk.

Have you told your husband how you feel? Your hormones are going to start to climb and you are going to feel very emotional, even without these added feelings. I think it's really important to talk to someone about how you feel and help you work through your feelings.

First time and scared to death..

I was pregnant back in January and found out the week it started a new job, I was scared, freaked out and cried. I ended up having a miscarriage due to uterus issues. I am now 27 weeks and I am still scared not as freaked out as the first time. I think it's natural to be scared. Congrats by the way.

I had a planned pregnancy, but we got preg on the first try, so i went through what you are. For me it lasted through delivery. I had a hard time in the beginning, but it does get better. I suffered a bit from pp depression. I guess im trying to say, it does get better, but don't freak if its not right away. If you need help afterwards dont be afraid to ask your dr. That being said, im preggo with my second and what a difference!! I almost feel guilty that i am enjoying this pregnancy over my last dc. So it's all normal things unfortunately some women go through.

First time and scared to death..

I agree with what all the ladies above said but I think the first question you need to answer is "Do you want to have a child?". If the answer is no, then you need to tell your husband this is not what you want. If the answer is yes, then you need to talk to your husband and tell him your fears and have him help you work through your emotions.

There is no right or wrong decision in this situation because you have to make the decision that is best for you and your DH.

Sending you lots of luck in whatever you decide. But know that either way, you have to be OK with that decision.

You're feelings are totally normal (at least in my mind). I felt the same with #2. Wasn't trying; came as a complete surprise; it took a long time to get over the fear part. Even just 5 weeks from my due date I'm still scared but he it's happening and nothing I can do about it now.

I think your feelings are normal. I went through 3 years of IF and when it did finally come up with a BFP, I thought what the hell did we just do!

Totally normal to be scared to death! But as time goes on you will get more & more excited, and then once the baby is here you won't even remember feeling that way! Everything will work out great. Congrats!!Chat Icon

Were you wanting to have a child but you just weren't expecting it to happen so soon? Life throws us a curveball at times but everything happens for a reason. For what it's worth I am pregnant with my 2nd and I'm more scared than I was to have the first one Cause now I will have 2 Chat Icon talk to your husband, tell him how you are feeling. Everything will work out for the best, don't worry Chat Icon
