Off to retrieval.... (Updated w/ fert)
Off to SIRM for my 1st retrieval. So bloated and can't wait for this to be over.
They had to move it 2.5 hours earlier because I took 8x the Lupron trigger I was supposed to (well, the nurse told me to take the whole thing, but apparently she thought I had a different version).
Here's hoping the follicles are still there and everything goes well. I'll update later with #s. We are doing PGD freeze all so i'm hoping at least a few make it to day 5/6 for biopsy and freezing.
Update: Well, that was a crazy morning. The roads were so icy and the midtown tunnel was closed. Thankfully we left extra time! Then, I hear the nurses saying that the anesthesiologist totaled her car and that Dr. T called some colleagues from Columbia and someone was going to come in for them. Anyways, the retrieval went fine - 11 eggs retrieved. I'm kinda disappointed b/c there were 15-20 mature follies on sono, but it's not a bad number.... now here's praying a few make it to freeze!!
Update 1/19. Only 5 mature only 3 fertilized. Totally bummed. Pretty much no chance of me doing PGD because i'm not paying $4k for 1 or 2 embryos. And the infertility saga continues....

Re: Off to retrieval.... (Updated)
Good luck honey!!! That's a great number of follies. Dr. T does not aim for quantity but more quality. I'm hoping you get a great fert report!!

Re: Off to retrieval.... (Updated)
What the other ladies are saying! Quality, not quantity. I was the same as you. About 20-22 mature follies. 10 retrieved- 11 fertilized- Currently pregnant with twins and we froze 2. Lots of luck!!!!!

Re: Off to retrieval.... (Updated w/ fert)
That stinks! Would you implant w/o PGD? I had a similar cycle (but triggered with hcg). Had one decent embryo 5 days out & transferred & implanted (but no need for pgd).

Hopefully those three are all you need. Girls on here have only had one and gotten pregnant. It really does only take one. Would you move forward without pgd?

Is batching cycles an option? That's what we are trying to do, because I've never made more than three eggs a cycle. The goal is to batch multiple cycles so that all the biopsies can go to PGD together. I don't know what PGD lab you are using, but our lab has a flat rate for up to 8 samples. Our "perfect world" goal is to keep going until we get 8, and then test them all. Don't know if that is an option for you, but it's worth asking about. Good luck!

Re: Off to retrieval.... (Updated w/ fert)
I agree with the batching. Dr. T was aiming to batch a few cycles with me knowing I don't make many eggs. Maybe he didn't expect this outcome? Sometimes you can't predict how many follies will have the mature eggs. Hoping those three are perfect embies and you won't need to batch! Is he transferring or freezing them?

Re: Off to retrieval.... (Updated w/ fert)
I know 3 seems like a small number but you really only need 1 to get pregnant. I'm send you all the baby dust in the world and hoping that all 3 are perfect little embryos!

Off to retrieval.... (Updated w/ fert)
Thanks so much ladies. We can't transfer this cycle because I didn't do the intralipid infusions or prednisione because we were planning to do PGD freeze all. I'm not really sure why I need the PGD. I'm 34 (not that old, I think) and my previous miscarraiges were likely due to my immune issues (and the 2 D&Cs showed genetically normal fetuses). All our genetic testing and chromosomal studies were normal too. If any of the 3 make it to day 5, we may do a FET next cycle and see if anything sticks.
I'm going to talk to Dr. T about why he recommended the PGD for me and ways to improve my cycles, batching and all that stuff. I know the first IVF is mostly a learning process, but it's just frustrating. I'll get an update tomorrow (day 3) on my embryos and see from there.
Thanks for all the wonderful support ladies!!

I'm sorry. I did PGD too. It finally worked when I did the intra lipids!
