For those with bad heartburn/reflux...

I have to share...my doctor gave me a script for Protonix and my life has changed!!! I was waking up in the middle of the night with horrible heartburn. I tried Tums and Pepcid but nothing helped.

I've been on this pill now 2 weeks and since the day I started it i have had ZERO heartburn!!

Thought I'd share for you ladies suffering. Ask your doctor!

It's category B so safe for pregnancy.

Did you have reflux too? I don't have heartburn but I have reflux at night and it wakes me up.

Good to know!! Thanks!! So far I've been popping tums and I'm yet to move over to pepcid but I feel like I'm going to need to soon.

Last night I ate 2 ice pops for dinner and took a bunch of tums and it helped. It definitely wakes me up at night though. I just picture having a very hairy little baby Chat Icon

Thank you. I will be mentioning this at my next appointment. I had bad heartburn with DS but I am already starting to get it with this pregnancy and it does keep me up. Its like acid burning in my throat.

I had it really bad with my first pregnancy and it started around 14 weeks and lasted until he was born! Tums helped but then it got so bad around 24-28 weeks that I had to take more and my ob recommended Pepcid AC which I took once a day sometimes twice a day and it helped a lot!! This time around I've been starting to get it at night also and lo and behold it started this week which is 14 weeks! Lol

the pepcid helped me a lot too at first. i think i got immune to it. first i took it once a day and then it was like 3 times a day until it stopped working.

i never tried zantac tho.

yup…

I told my OB how bad my heartburn is and that pepcid wasn't doing it anymore. He said that he won't allow pregnant women to take anything stronger then Pepcid. So to just go on a milder diet, eat smaller meals, and drink more milk.

I asked him about other meds people I know were taking and he said he personally thinks its a bad idea to go on anything stronger.
