MMR Side Effects?

We are scheduled to go on vacation two weeks after DS gets his MMR. I was thinking two-weeks was plenty but of course today I get the 'What to Expect' email of the day...it was about the MMR and it said reactions to MMR tend to appear a week or two after the shot. UGH! Anyone have experiences to share?

Usually 8-10 days but our ped to,d us immune system is compromised for s month after shot. My DS is scheduled for second dose 2 weeks prior to vacation & even though he never had reaction to the first we opted to wait till after

DD had absolutely no reaction to the MMR, so you may not have to worry

My daughter had the mmr shot on 2/7 and one week exactly later she got what Looked like a bug bite where she had the shot and was really red and a 100.00 fever on and off a couple days. The "bite" appears to happen to some babies after much googling. It's almost gone now. Her mood was fine though :)

My DD had no reaction from what I can remember. But honestly I wouldn't risk it If I was going on vacation I would either schedule it for earlier or wait till you get back.

My dd got a rash exactly 1 week after getting the mmr. I would hold off till you get back.

DS1 - got a fever a little over a week later, but at the time he was in daycare and had a lot of ear infections. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but he had an ear infection after. Actually delayed his first MMR shot bc he was sick.

DS2 - much different immune system then DS1. Never had any side effects or anything.

So far only my oldest has had the MMR and he had no reaction. But all kids are different and I would probably schedule the shot for when we got back from vacation.

DD got a mild fever a week later. I think it lasted a day or two.

My DS had a fever and a rash about 10 days after. I would schedule it for after you return from vacation.

Surprisingly my DS did not have any side effects from the MMR. He had more of a reaction from other shots in the past.

DD just got a fever exactly 7 days after the shot.
Nothing crazy, maybe 100-101. Went down with Motrin.
She was acting fine though.
It lasted a day and half to 2 days

Where are you going?
If it is in the USA, don't worry at all: worst case, you can take your kid to a DR.
Mine just had his booster. Maybe he got hives (he gets hives sporadically with ?? trigger food, so it may not be related). Went away in a few hours.

14 days like CLOCK work!
dizzy, lethargic, feverish, unhappy, moody, no longer speaks
Takes about 3 days for her to flip back. I HATE it!

Thanks Ladies! I moved the appt so it'll be just under a month between the shot and the vacation. Unfortunaltey I have to go away on business exactly 7 days after he gets the shot, but I'll only be gone two days and he'll be home with DH and my mother. Of course I'll be worried if he's not feeling well, but he'll be in good hands, in his house, near his dr.
