Thinking IVF is my next option
If you have gone through IVF can you please give me information on the steps before, during, after etc...
Did you have a condition that caused your infertility?
How many times did you do it to have a successful pregnancy?
Thanks!

Thinking IVF is my next option
Not sure if this will be helpful for you but here goes:
Before: failed at IUI's and clomid cycles. Age 37 - was recommended to do IVF. I had a laparoscopy to remove endo, etc and thrombophilia testing with OBGYN before IVF to make sure I was ruling out as many issues as possible before IVF as I was OOP. I have hashimotos disease and endo...no verifiable condition. I have done 4 IVF transfers...2 pregnancies, both ended in M/C. Now I am testing for Recurrent Pregnancy loss.

I was unexplained. Both dh and I had great numbers and always perfect on paper, we just weren't getting pregnant. We did two fresh Ivfs and the second resulted in dd. everybody has a diff protocol, but I did lupron with bcp to suppress, then gonal f. Both times I had over 20 retrieved, but nothing to freeze.
Best of luck! It's really not as bad as it seems

My story is very similar...Same diagnosis, I'm totally healthy, perfect numbers. Same protocol. I got lucky & got pregnant the first time from IVF.
IVF sounds worse than it is.

ETA: #2 was natural miracle child
#3: used frozen embryo: fail, used only embryo I obtained from a fresh cycle. Baby currently cooking.

Re: Thinking IVF is my next option
Male Factor was our issue.
Got pregnant on our first IVF with DD. Honestly the anticipation was soooo much worse than the actual procedure.
We have done two more IVFs since then one fresh one frozen got pregnant both times but m/c both times.
Good luck to you!

Thinking IVF is my next option
Thanks ladies! I know it's not the worst thing, I just cant believe I am coming to the point of going for IVF. I guess I have been in denial since I am unexplained, and since we have a 3.5 year old we conceived with no issues. I also got pregnant when trying for #2 very quick, but it ended in M/C and nothing since.
I tried to convince myself I was just stressed out and my body needed to regulate, but I am finally coming to terms with medical intervention.
I haven't done any IUI, since we are unexplained I feel it's a waste of time. I really hope I am one of those that only needs one time.

Thinking IVF is my next option
Before IVF: Tried on our own for about 8 months. Used an at home ovulation monitor. I ovulated every month and was pretty regular. Went to RE for testing. I was 28 and DH was 31. Diagnosed with male fertility related issues -- DH had low sperm count and motility. Had 4 IUI's that all resulted in BFN's. 2 were unmedicated and 2 were on Clomid. While I was on my last 2 Clomid IUI cycles, DH was also on Clomid which slightly increased both his count and motility. He saw Dr. Sarah Girardi who is awesome. Given the male diagnosis, our RE recommended moving to IVF. Currently 35 weeks pregnant after 1 IVF -- transferred one embryo on day 3!

We were also unexplained and other than my age nothing showed as an issue. I did 2 IUIs with clomid that didn't work. I was just about to start an ivf cycle when I got of with my ds.
It has now been over 3 years and we have had no luck for #2. We have decided no fertility treatments for #2 so we will just continue for a few more moths before I hang it up.

Same. Unexplained. We were/are perfect on paper. Had twins from my first IVF. Still have 6 frozen embies even though we are 99% done having children.
My third was a complete surprise and I got pregnant when my boys were 8 months old. I still can't believe we use birth control now after all those years of trying

Re: Thinking IVF is my next option
I have DOR and we also had male factor due to a failed vasectomy reversal. In total, I had 4 IVF cycles. The first was cancelled due to poor response. The second resulted in my DD. Third was a chemical. Fourth resulted in my DS.
Once we learned that DH's reversal failed, we knew IVF with ICSI would be our only option, so my situation was a little different in that there were no others means of attempting to conceive.

Pretty much the same for me. I did 3 timed cycles with clomid then one IUI and moved right to IVF after that and it was successful. Unexplained secondary IF (I did get diagnosed with PCOS). Was on metformin for that, suppressed with bcp for 2 weeks, then follistim, retrieved 24 eggs, put 2 back (both took, lost 1 at 6-7 weeks), and 2 frozen. Expecting in May. The build up to IVF was a lot worse that actually going through it. I actually wish I would have gone to it sooner. Good luck!

Thinking IVF is my next option
LotsaLuv - Our stories are VERY similar. We got pregnant with my 4.5 year old very quickly. Then when we started for #2, it also happened very quickly. I miscarried at 7 weeks, had a D&C, and haven't been able to get pregnant since. That was in Nov. 2013.
I also know what you mean about the denial - I really thought that my body just needed a little extra "push" to get pregnant by doing the IUI. That maybe the sperm just needed a "ride" to the egg, and my body would do the rest because it figured it out twice before. I was so hopeful. When it didn't work, it was really hard. All of my tests have come back normal so there was nothing for me to focus on. It's funny how they call "unexplained" a diagnosis. Isnt' that the OPPOSITE of a diagnosis?
I'm also drawn to the idea of IVF and the amount of control it gives. We could control the number of embryos that are transferred, so I wouldn't have to be concerned about twins. We could do genetic testing beforehand, so hopefully the transferred embryo will be less likely to miscarry.
However we don't have ANY insurance coverage for assisted reproductive technologies and the cost is terrifying. I don't have any insight into IVF for you, but I wanted to let you know I'm going through the same thing and know how hard it is.
