Dumb question- What would you call this room?
It's a "living room" open to the kitchen, all one large room.. but you have a formal living room AND a large "family room" on the same level. "Den" doesn't seem appropriate.. I'm at a loss

Just the kitchen and this living space. The formal living room and big family room are totally separate rooms.

I felt weird calling it that for some reason, but I think that may be the best option.

It depends on who you are labeling it for. For a Real Estate ad, I would definitely call it a Great Room. If it's just for family, to say "Honey, why are there car parts in the XYZ room?", I might use "Common Room". One of the rooms could be called the "TV Room" or the "Bonus Room", or even something like the "Tan Room" or the "Front Living Room", etc.

Dumb question- What would you call this room?
We have a living room/ dining room combo that is also open to the kitchen. We call it the great room.
Sometimes a sitting room or family room attached to the kitchen are known as the keeping room.

This is exactly it. Not labeling it for listing purposes but more for being able to tell my kids and DH where to find stuff. I feel weird saying " It's in the great room" but " The living room next to the kitchen" is too long
