does anybody know of a circumstance where childcare leave was extended past 4 years in nyc?
Just wondering if there were special circumstances that would allow this. My dd will be 4 in may 2016 so I'm due to go back in September 2016. My dd is extremely language delayed and I'm already getting uneasy leaving her before she goes to kindergarten. Since my town doesn't have a pre k program and she is delayed I was wondering if they would give me one more year until she is in kindergarten. I was just wondering if anyone knew of someone who has done this. I could call but I'd like to hear from others first.

A coworker of mine did this. You have to prove you have no child care and your principal has to approve it. HOWEVER, it was tricky and the paperwork wound up not being submitted properly (secretary & principal majorly dropped the ball) and she had to resign. Be careful!

I've never heard of this, sorry. I do know of someone that took a 10-year leave of absence... but she had 5 kids!
