Asking for a raise

We never get bonuses and we did not get reviews/raises this year.

Our office in in the midst of trying to revamp to get more business. I know this will be a long process.

I would like to set up a meeting with my bosses to have an informal review to see that I am on the right track and try to negotiate some flex time or additional PTO in liu of a raise. I figure the worst they can say is no.

The other girl in my department has been talked to multiple times in the past few months regarding her attitude/tone with agents and the way she handles her work load (she holds things for a few days, when I get it out if not the same day, the next). They actually told her this week that she should have been fired the other day after one of her blow outs.

Multiple agents have requested to work with me rather than her (we usually split casework by client name).

I have also now been given the task of monitoring her - letting her know when she's getting too loud or snappy. I have been doing this when it gets too out of control to the point I can't concentrate.

Here's the kicker - I need to tell them during the same meeting that I will be going on maternity leave later this year. Is this too much at once? I was really counting on a raise this year between a new house and now expecting our first child. I have only 2 weeks vacation and 3 sick days that I'm trying not to use so I can at least have some pay during leave. They offer state STD but then I'm left with nothing for my remaining time out. I figure the worst they can say is no.

Based on everything you have said here, I say go for it. You listed multiple valid reasons you deserve a raise. Since they are not giving raises, there is no reason that you cannot request some PTO in lieu of that. Obviously you have to disclose your pregnancy soon, but this legally should have nothing to do with their decision to approve your request.
